Jilin City Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yang Lijuan was transferred to the provincial Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp on the afternoon of September 23rd, 2005 after having been arrested one month ago, had a confession extracted by force, and unjustly sentenced. The camp police are applying tortures such as shocks with electric batons and denial of sleep to continuously persecute Ms. Yang.

In the morning of January 18th, 2006 at around 10:00 a.m., Ms. Yang Lijuan's family members came to the forced labour camp to visit her. They were taken to the mess hall. The camp personnel used many excuses not to grant the visit. The Fifth Brigade captain Hou Zhihong and the camp police captain Wang Limei said that inside the camp Ms. Yang led others to read Falun Gong articles, exercise and meditate, and not do the labour, so her visiting privilege was revoked. In addition, she had to stay longer in the camp. Her sentence was extended by ten days. Ms. Yang Lijuan's mother replied, "I am more than 80 years old and came here from a long distance. The New Year is coming and that's the time for families to be together, so I must see her today!" After such insistence, they had to allow the visit. However, the camp personnel (Captain Hou and Captain Wang) requested that the mother persuade Ms. Yang to "behave well" to avoid further extension of her confinement in the forced labour camp.

Then they brought Ms. Yang Lijuan to the mess hall. When asked by family members what was going on, in front of the camp police and instructor, Ms. Yang talked about the tortures she suffered. She talked about how she had been hung up, force-fed mustard water for more than five hours, tied to a metal chair, shocked by electric batons, etc. Then she continued to say to her mother, "Do you know why last time they refused your request to visit me on November 9th? At that time, my face was burned by the electric shocks and they did not want you to see it. Even now my injuries have still not fully healed." Camp staff member Wang threateningly asked, "Who hit you?" Looking her in the eye, Ms. Yang replied, "Why are you speaking against your own conscience? Weren't you present when Captain Liu and Instructor Zhou shocked my face with electric batons?!" Captain Hou denied it and said, "Why did they hit you? Didn't you shout that 'Falun Dafa is good'?" Yang's mother demanded, "Just because of her shouting 'Falun Dafa is good', you used electric shocks on her? The whole world knows that Falun Dafa is good. Electric batons are for criminals. She is a good person meeting the requirements of Truthfulness - Compassion - Forbearance." The camp policewoman had to say, "Electric batons are for Falun Gong practitioners. We are paid by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The CCP gives us food for the table and clothes for the body. Whatever the CCP tells us to do, we will carry it out."

Ignoring the fact that Ms. Yang is cut and bruised all over her body due to torture, the police at Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp are becoming increasingly aggravated in their persecution of her. They force her to do slave labour, deny her daily sleep, and apply more physical punishments to her in an attempt to force Ms. Yang Lijuan to abandon her belief in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance."
