According to an Epoch Times report on January 9th, 2006, to mark seven million people withdrawing from the Chinese Communist Party and its affiliated organisations, volunteer workers from the UK Alliance for quitting the CCP held an open-air photo exhibition and collected signatures in St. Martins Square in Central London on January 7th and 8th, 2006.

British people sign the petition to support the campaign

The Epoch Times quoted Radio Free Asia on December 15th, 2005, as saying that the president of the UK Alliance for Quitting the CCP pointed out that though there are not so many Chinese nationals announcing their withdrawal from the CCP in the UK, it is a positive sign that more and more Chinese are not afraid of openly talking about the Chinese Communist regime’s high-pressure rule in China.

It was reported that the president of the UK Service Centre for quitting the CCP, Dr. Li Guihua expressed that the vast majority of those who have withdrawn from the CCP were the CCP members in China and there are not so many people quitting the CCP in the U.K. However, there are more and more Chinese people willing to discuss the Chinese Communist regime’s persecution against Falun Gong and its human right violations in various aspects. It is indeed a promising development.

Dr. Li added, “When we were collecting signatures on the streets, many people came to us and eagerly signed the petition. Some even came to us and wanted to have a further discussion with us. Though there are not so many people like that, we can sense that it is an inevitable trend. Whenever we go to Chinatown and promote the “Nine Commentaries on the CCP” there, many people would discuss it with us on the spot. This is a situation happening from time to time. When we first promoted the “Nine Commentaries on the CCP” there in the past, people often stayed away from us immediately as nobody dared to openly talk about the CCP. Nowadays, people from all walks of life come to look at the materials on display without fear and it often attracts more and more people around us. This is a unique phenomenon.”

It is also reported that when a Chinese group participated in a parade appealing against the Chinese government’s human rights violations in the busiest business centre in the London, many British people took the initiative to express their supports for the move. A British lady said that she had never seen so many Chinese people appealing for human rights on the streets and that she was very excited because she had lived in China and fully understands that Chinese people are living in an environment without human rights.
