On 8 and 9 of February 2002, a Falun Dafa picture exhibition was held in the Town Hall in Ipswich, a town in Eastern England. The Mayor of Ipswich opened the conference. She spent one hour looking at all of the pictures in the Exhibition and talking to practitioners. The Mayor then gave a speech:

"Thank you for inviting me to open this Falun Dafa exhibition. There are over 200 exhibits, including video, here today which record the ten year history of the movement. Falun Dafa is an ancient traditonal practice which is peaceful and non-organisational. I am very much looking forward to touring the exhibition and learning about this ancient spiritual practice embracing truthfulness, compassion and forbearance. It is an advanced cultivation system for improving the mind, body and spirit. It now gives me great pleasure to declare the exhibition open."

The Chairman of the UK Falun Gong Association also gave a speech in which he described the brutal persecution of practitioners in China and called for people to act to stop the persecution. The Mayor then released several hundred balloons with the words Falun Dafa written on them.

Many members of the general public attended the Exhibition and showed their concern for the persecuted practitioners in China. Local media were also interested in the event.
