Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Ye Hao was an engineer employed by Zhongnan Construction Design Institute located in Wuhan City, Hubei Province. He was sent to forced labour, and was repeatedly harmed both mentally and physically. He died on October 18th, 2005.

Mr. Ye Hao was 35 years old, and he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa at the beginning of October 2000. Police took 5000 yuan1 in cash from him and more than 5000 yuan in bank certificates. He was later forced to become destitute and homeless in order to avoid being "illegally arrested2" at home. In March 2001, he was arrested, and sentenced to two years of forced labour. He had been deprived the basic rights in the Wuhan City Hewan Labour Camp. Mr. Ye wasn't allowed to contact other Falun Dafa practitioners twice while in the Second Ward because he refused to cooperate with the name counts.

Male Falun Dafa practitioners are tortured in the Second Ward of Wuhan City Hewan Labour Camp. The guards deprive practitioners of the right to sleep for long periods of time, force them do heavy labour, hang them by handcuffs from metal window frames, don't allow them to use the toilet, etc. To force practitioners to give up their faith, the guards torture them by not letting them sleep for several days; sometimes for a week. They may not even be allowed to lie down on a bed for one whole month. Some practitioners can only sleep 2-3 hours per day while doing heavy labour overtime. Wardens Zhou Houshun and Chen Yong (both male) encouraged prisoners to beat Falun Dafa practitioners brutally.

Mr. Ye Hao was released from the labour camp in February 2003. His employer fired him, and the local police station took his residence registration and personal ID; then he didn't have any way to find a job. He had been followed and closely monitored for a long time. He didn't have any financial resources, and his physical health was also damaged. His mother is also a Falun Dafa practitioner, and was detained eight times after July 20th, 1999. Mr. Ye had been living under huge mental pressure. Mr. Ye Hao died on October 18th, 2005.

Note

1. "Yuan" is the Chinese currency; 500 yuan is equal to the average monthly income of an urban worker in China.

2. “Illegally arrested”: Contrary to what former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin, who initiated the persecution, and the Chinese Communist Party would like the world to believe, practising Falun Gong is NOT illegal in China. Although the Public Security Department issued an unconstitutional set of restraints on the practice at the onset of the persecution in 1999, no laws have been passed by the only legislative body in China, the People's Congress, banning Falun Gong or granting the police the authority to arrest Falun Gong practitioners for practising the exercises or distributing leaflets.
