My Mother Was Forced to Become Homeless to Avoid Further Persecution

When my mother was in exile, she again went to Beijing to petition against the suppression of Dafa. Once again she was subjected to torture. The police threatened another practitioner, who was from the Xinjiang Autonomous Region and over 50 years old, saying that if she would not reveal her name, they would beat and kick my mum. When the practitioner still didn't give her name, the police began to use coarser methods. They attempted to demoralise my mum by stripping off her clothes in front of the other practitioner. They even threatened to rape her. How contemptible, shameless and corrupt they are! Even now I still can't believe that this kind of thing really happened, and at the hands of the policemen of our modern world. China, with her brilliant 5,000-year history, should be a civilised country. I really feel ashamed for the behaviour of those indecent policemen.

Mum and dad divorced when I was only three years old, and she did not marry again. She therefore did all she could do to take care of me for the next 15 years.

As far as I can remember, my mum was never healthy. She used to suffer from a lot of diseases, such as tracheitis, heart disease, an inflamed gallbladder, and dizziness. Sometimes she could only stand for five minutes or so. In addition to all sorts of pressures of daily life and mental duress, I can't figure out how she managed to withstand the difficulties that faced her.

Fortunately, in the midst of this critical, hopeless period, she encountered Falun Dafa. From then on, Mum diligently studied the Falun Dafa books and did the exercises. She conducted herself according to the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance. Eventually, she made a miraculous recovery. All her illnesses disappeared, and her mental outlook was getting better and better. The wrinkles on her face gradually faded, and her temperament was much better than before. Mum was refreshed and became a changed person.

Falun Dafa helped her pass through the darkness toward the light. I was so glad to see this miracle happen. Even my rhinitis disappeared. This really was a testament to "one person cultivating in Dafa benefits the entire family."

In October 1999 Mum went to Beijing for the first time to present a petition to the government. Unexpectedly she was brought to our local liaison office in Beijing. The police took all her Dafa books and the 2,000 yuan1 in her pocket and detained her for 15 days. I was no more than 12 years old that year. When I was informed of my mum's arrest, my brain went numb and I did not know what to do. I felt so helpless! Loneliness and fear overcame me. From then on I usually awakened from a nightmare. But as far as I know, my mother was on the side of truth; what she persisted in is not wrong.

In order to persist in her own faith, Mum participated in group practise. She was therefore detained again and forced into brainwashing. Several thugs in this class beat her mercilessly. Those horrible people bashed and kicked her and even lifted up her clothes to expose her buttocks and back as they beat her violently with a broom. Although her whole back was swollen, they did not stop beating her. They tortured her so severely that they broke four or five brooms into pieces. At last they used a rubber stick to hit her. When she was beaten into unconsciousness, they poured cold water on her to wake her up. There were injuries all over her body. Her back swelled so much that she was unable to use her arms. She was tortured so badly that she was bedridden for several months

When I found out about all these things that happened to my mother I could hardly believe that people could be this evil. I developed insomnia. I cannot remember how many times I cried at night. When I imagined my mum's persecution scene I felt so scared. I was heartbroken. I was afraid that if my mum was not able to hang on, the worst thing would happen.

After 28 days of restless waiting, Mum finally returned home. But my uncle, Mum's older brother who was not a practitioner, was arrested and taken to a local police station before she was released. The police told him he would not be released unless he paid 1,000 yuan. Uncle had no alternative but to pay the money.

That autumn Mum went out of town to work. The police unexpectedly arrested her again. The next day they sent her to a police department, where she was again beaten. Because they could not find evidence to detain her, they planted a packet of Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution in my mum's bag. Because she refused to acknowledge it, the police started to beat her. They even took a shoe out of a drawer to smack her face. Her face was soon disfigured. When the local police came to transfer her, they still put the planted material into a document jacket as evidence.

Because of being tortured and protesting the persecution with a hunger strike, Mum was so weak that she was not even able to walk on her own. Since the police at the local train station were afraid to undertake the responsibility for having persecuted my mom, they released her. Looking at her appearance after the torture I was so scared I could not stop crying.

At the end of September 2000, the local train station police officers came to my school to find me. I was still in class, so they then drove to my home. After school I walked home and noticed the police vehicle by the front entrance. I did not think about it too much, but when I opened the door some people stopped me and looked at me in a very strange way. They said, "We are your mother's cultivation partners. Did she recently get some materials?" I said, "No, I don't know anything." In fact, I knew that they were trying to dupe me. Realising they could not get anything out of me, they barged into the room, searching it from top to bottom. That scene is forever etched in my brain.

After this, Mum began her life in exile and was seldom home. I had already lost my dad's love, and now I was deprived of my mother's love, too. My heart was broken. Although I have my uncle and his wife taking care of me, I still feel scared and worried about my mum every day. But I understand that practising Falun Gong is not wrong and that Mum has done nothing wrong.

In 2001 I advanced into junior middle school. I had little opportunity to see Mum during those three years of school life. Others had to attend the parents' meetings. My mother was originally a businesswoman. Because of the crazy persecution she handed over her quite profitable shop to other people. We lost the income, which was no less than 10,000 yuan per month, and lost the only financial support for our family. Who makes all these tragedies happen?

Having experienced these difficult, hard years, I have gradually become mature and am no longer as weak as before. At the same time I have come to clearly realise the true face of Jiang Zemin. He is a real devil who uses people's hard-earned money for his own purposes and recklessly persecutes the Chinese people.
