On August 28th, 2005, Falun Gong practitioners in Denmark filed a lawsuit with the Danish police, which requested the Danish procurator to arrest Jia Chunwang who is currently visiting Denmark. As the former Minister of the Public Security Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), the Chief Procurator of the Highest Procuratorate, and a key member of the CCP’s “610” Office, Jia committed serious crimes in persecuting Falun Gong.

About 4 o’clock in the afternoon, two Falun Gong practitioners and the spokesperson of the Danish Falun Gong Association walked into a Danish Police Station under intense media coverage to submit the file along with a great deal of supporting evidence. Following Danish law, the lawsuit indicted Jia Chungwang with the serious crime of torture.

Mr. Mark Xu, the spokesperson of the Danish Falun Gong Association stated that Jia is directly responsible for the persecution of Falun Gong. Under his direct orders, many innocent Falun Gong practitioners lost their lives. Jia must pay for his crimes.

Mr. Tyge Trier, a famous human rights lawyer in Denmark, represented Falun Gong practitioners in this case. During a Danish TV interview, Mr. Tyge Trier urged, “The persecution and torture of Falun Gong is extremely brutal. We hope the Danish procurators will thoroughly investigate this case by detaining Jia Chunwang for questioning during the enquiries.”

Falun Gong practitioners’ lawsuit attracted the focus of mainstream media in Denmark. All major newspapers, radio stations and TV stations covered with interviews and reports.

Interviewing Liu Xiaotian

One of the plaintiffs, Falun Gong practitioner Liu Xiaotian, recounted his painful experience for the media. Arrested for practising Falun Gong, his parents lost their lives within five months in custody. Chased by the police, he himself had to escape thousands of miles away bearing the pain of losing his parents.

From 1999 to 2002, as the Minister of the Public Security Bureau, Jia Chunwang drove the national public security system as well as the board troops for public security to persecute Falun Gong. Jia regarded the fight against Falun Gong as the central task of the public security offices nationwide. As a result, serious incidents of public security system’s persecution of Falun Gong sky-rocketed. The number of Falun Gong practitioners who were tortured to death by police increased dramatically. The police of the public security bureau became the most evil group who persecute Falun Gong nationwide. More than one thousand three hundred Falun Gong practitioners were persecuted to death during Jia’s two years in office. From 2003 on, while Jia serves as the Chief Procurator in the Highest Procuratorate, China’s Procuratorate system became the main accomplice in the persecution of Falun Gong. Without access to any justice protection of their rights, Falun Gong practitioners commonly suffered from illegal detention or court sentences. As many as six thousand Falun Gong practitioners are being illegally jailed.

The purpose of Jia Chunwang’s trip to Denmark was the 2005 annual convention of the International Association of Prosecutors. The theme of the convention is “Witnesses, Specialists and Victims.” Ironically, the title of Jia’s speech at this meeting was “Victim Protection during a Criminal Case.”
