Liu Yaokun is a Dafa practitioner in Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province. During the New Year's holiday in 2003, Ms. Liu was arrested by three policemen, and then sent to a labour camp. Police guards brutally tortured Ms. Liu in Jiamusi Forced Labour Camp both physically and mentally. As a result, she can no longer take care of herself, but she is still detained in the labour camp.

Ms. Liu is 45 years old. She was born in Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province, and later lived in Hegang City. On January 1st 2003, Ms. Liu was at her parents' house in Suihua City when three police officers from Suihua Police Station arrived and forcibly took her to Suihua Detention Centre. She was later transferred to Hegang Detention Centre. After three months of detention she was sent to a labour camp.

On March 27th 2003, Ms. Liu was sent to Jiamusi Labour Camp. On that day, police guards tortured her with "big back-cuffing" (a very brutal torture method that can inflict disability) in order to force her to give up her practice.

In October 2003, because Ms. Liu Yaokun and a fellow detainee, Cao Xiuxia, refused to follow the camp rules, labour camp official Mu Zhenjuan did not allow them to eat. Not only that, she also beat them, kicked them, slapped them in the face, and even used a needle to stab Ms. Liu. When Ms. Liu asked Mu why she was stabbing her with a needle, Mu said perversely, "Who stabbed you? Can you find a witness?" At that time, Dafa practitioner Cao Xiuxia and an inmate, Xu Guanglan, were watching.

Before the Chinese New Year, Liu Yaokun's family sent her 300 yuan (1); however, she only received 10 yuan.

At the end of October, Ms. Liu could not walk due to pain in her legs. Division Head, Chen Chunmei, Manager, Mu Zhenjuan, as well as policeman, Li Yongbo, forced her to walk. Because Ms. Liu moved slowly, they dragged and beat her.

Policemen dragged Ms. Liu to the second floor. They then beat her, kicked her lower body, and twisted her neck until Ms. Liu fainted. They then left her alone in a cold room on the second floor trapped in the position of "big back-cuffing." Later, they chained her onto the bed frame. Her body was directly exposed to the cold floor for about 40 minutes. At 8 o'clock when the shift changed, the guards found that her heartbeat was unusual, so they released her from the "big back-cuffing," but still left both of her hands cuffed onto the bed frame.

On the following day, Ms. Liu's urine was filled with blood. Then both of her legs went numb and she fell unconscious. After being cuffed for four days and four nights, Mu Zhenjuan asked Ms. Liu to declare herself "guilty" before removing the cuff from her. Ms. Liu did not listen to the unreasonable request. Mu Zhenjuan had no choice but to open the cuff. By then, Ms. Liu was tortured so severely that she needed help going to the toilet. Upon seeing Ms. Liu could not walk fast, Mu Zhenjuan forcibly stepped on her foot. As a result, Ms. Liu's left foot blistered. On the following day, while going to the dining hall for a meal, Mu Zhenjuan stuffed snow in Ms. Liu's shoes, and did not allow her to wear a hat.

In November, the labour camp required everyone to shout slogans during the morning exercise. Ms. Liu and four other practitioners were left outside in the cold. At one point Ms. Liu felt so cold that she could no longer continue walking and collapsed onto the ground. She was not picked up for more than half an hour. During that time her toes became frostbitten.

Several days later, when Ms. Liu was walking to the dining hall, the political director, Guo Qinhui, ordered her to walk faster. Ms. Liu said she had leg pain and could not walk fast. Guo slapped her in the face and said he would beat her again if she mentioned the leg pain once more. Ms. Liu asked officials why they were extending her detention term by 15 days. Guo Qinhui and officer Wang did not give any explanations, but instead beat her, swore at her, and forbade her from going to the dining hall for a meal.

In December 2003, some higher officials went to the manufacturing division for an inspection. Ms. Liu told them that Mu Zhenjuan beat her and stabbed her with a needle. In response, He Qiang, police guard Zhou Jiahui, and political director, Zhu Tiehong, slapped her in the face and kicked her. As a result, Ms. Liu fell onto the ground. Officer Zhang Xiaodan said, "Seems she was not stabbed enough. If her bones had been weakened by it, she would no longer dare to speak." Then they dragged Ms. Liu to another place. Zhou Jiahui kicked her, and handcuffed her onto some heating pipes. Ms. Liu kept twitching, so they handcuffed her to a bed frame.

On the fifth day, He Qiang told Ms. Liu that if she dared to speak again when high-level officials came for inspection, she would be beaten and handcuffed again. Ms. Liu was handcuffed to the bed frame for 18 days. Her leg pain worsened. She had to be dragged to the toilet, and she was also urinating blood. On that night, He Qiang forced her to apologise. Ms. Liu asked, "What exactly did I do wrong, just because I had leg pain? When something comes up, shouldn't I report this to the labour camp head or higher officials?" Gao Xiaohua said, "If you claim you did wrong in the past, he will unlock your handcuffs."

Right before Chinese New Year, Zhou Jiahui added one more unreasonable rule: "Nobody is allowed to sit down when eating in the dining hall." Ms. Liu asked for a rest. Zhou said no, and intentionally kicked the bench so that she felt down to the ground. When Ms. Liu requested to see the labour camp head, Zhou Jiahui swore at her, and asked people to drag her to the kitchen. Ms. Liu resisted, but they forcibly dragged her into the kitchen, threw her onto piles of coal and kicked her in the head. Ms. Liu's eyes were damaged. They also kicked Ms. Liu in the stomach, swearing as they kicked. The persons on duty were Li Jinbo and Wang Cong.

Later on, when higher officials came for inspection, they transferred Ms. Liu to the second floor. Mu Zhenjuan and Li Yongbo even beat her because of that.

On June 2nd 2004, Ms. Liu was forcibly sent to the labour camp again. On the fourth day, she was dragged onto the floor. Ms. Liu told Mu Zhenjuan that she could not bear it since her ribs and hipbones were injured. Mu said she was following orders from high officials. Mu Zhenjuan and Zhou Jiahui also told the labour camp doctor, surnamed Li, to stab Ms. Liu whenever she mentioned the leg pain. Dr. Li agreed, "How about taking a needle now and having a practice?"

After several days, Zhou Jiahui did not allow others to carry Ms. Liu on their back, but instead asked two people to drag her on the ground. As a result, Ms. Liu became dizzy, suffered excruciating pain in her ribs, and had difficulty laying down. One night, officer Sun asked inmates to forcibly push Ms. Liu onto the bed. When Dafa practitioner Zhao Chunling carried her on his back to the toilet, he slipped and fell. Upon seeing that, Officer Sun said, "She [Ms. Liu] is disabled anyways; she deserves this."

Above are just some of the inhuman tortures suffered by Dafa practitioner Ms. Liu Yaokun, especially in Jiamusi Labour Camp.
