Ms. Sun Yuqiu was a 58-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner living in Jitai Town, Shouguang City, Shandong Province. On December 22nd 1999, her daughter, sister, and brother-in-law, plus several other Dafa practitioners, went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practise Falun Dafa. On the way there, they were arrested and detained. They suffered brutal beatings and were paraded through the streets like criminals. On top of this, each of them had to pay ten thousand yuan (1) for being kept in captivity. Sun Yuqiu and her husband, plus about 100 other Dafa practitioners, were also detained by the village commission for three days and three nights. They all encountered cruel beatings and torture. Sun Yuqiu was forced to watch her daughter being tortured in public. At the same time, Ms. Sun and her husband were also threatened by the officials and forced to pay over 2,000 yuan. After suffering all kinds of serious physical and mental torture, Ms. Sun was released, but by that time she was already in a coma. She died 9 days after she went home.

Ms. Zhang Xiuhua was 80 years old and lived in Weifang City, Shandong Providence. She began to practise Falun Dafa in 1995 and became very healthy both mentally and physically. After the persecution of Falun Gong began on July 20th 1999, she was arrested, harassed, threatened and detained over a two-year period. Due to this intense pressure, her old illnesses relapsed, and in July 2001 she passed away.

Mr. Shao Yaming was 66 years old and retired from the Baoding Prison of Hebei Province. Before he practised Falun Dafa, he was in very poor health and had a very serious skin problem. After starting to practise in 1995, he became very healthy. On April 25th 1999 he went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa and to explain the truth of Falun Dafa with his own experience. When the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started to persecute Falun Dafa, he once again went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa. Police officials and other authorities attempted to arrest him, so he was forced to leave his home. Later the police and other officials coerced his family to call him back, and he was arrested on the way home. His house was ransacked, and all of his Dafa books were confiscated. Shao Yaming was constantly harassed during the last 6 years. The 610 (2) authorities and police officials came regularly to his house to hound him. As a result, Mr. Shao lost his cultivation environment and the mental pressure caused his physical condition to get worse and worse. Because of this continual harassment, he passed away in May 2005. His colleagues said that if they had allowed him to practise Falun Dafa, he would not have died at all. Before Mr. Shau passed away, he asked other practitioners to post his solemn declaration and his statement of resignation from the CCP.

Mr. Liu Aichen was a 60-year-old practitioner living in Nanxule Village, Zanhuang County, Hebei Province. He started to practise Falun Dafa in1996. After the persecution began Mr. Liu walked between 30 and 40 miles to the provincial hall, passing through the patrols, in order to appeal for the rights of Falun Gong practitioners. Because he was deprived of a safe environment to practise Falun Gong and maintain his health, he died on December 21st 2004 from stomach cancer.

Mr. Kang Anrong was a Dafa practitioner who was approximately 60 years old and lived in Mengzhou City, Henan Province. In the winter of 1999, he was arrested in his city. They took off his coat and handcuffed him to a tree until his family paid 2,000 yuan for his release. He passed away in 2002.

Note:

(1) "Yuan" is the Chinese currency; 500 yuan is equal to the average monthly income of an urban worker in China.

(2) "The 610 office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.
