Is it right to say “Seeing is believing”?

When people talk about gods and whether there is justice of good and evil, they often say, “it depends on whether you believe it or not”. Atheists feel most against all religions asking people to “believe before seeing”. “How can I believe in something when I can’t see anything at all? Isn’t it self-deceptive? Isn’t it illogical?” atheists ask. So, they would rather consider religions foolish.

Then, are gods really illusions imagined by the subjective minds of some people? Are they out of psychological factors? Is it real that gods exist only in our conceptions and that they cannot regulate people’s lives? We will discuss this theme, not with subjective feelings, but with neutral and objective reasoning.

First, we will start from objective facts. No matter how different the races in the world are, they all share a similar belief that there are high-level lives who, being higher than human beings, oversee humans. Are such similarities just coincidences? Do they come from the common flaws of human nature? Especially in Chinese history, people search and practice in the cultivation practice generation after generation. Having developed through five thousand years, it has become a self-sufficient and complete system. How can one say that its practitioners are fools or psychopaths? Many of them are well known and greatly admired prime ministers, who are known as the most intelligent in Chinese history.

Many people deny the consistency of history. They deny their ancestors. They think that the ancient people were ignorant because they did not know modern science. They deny everything the ancient people believed in. Actually, how can one prove that people nowadays are cleverer than the ancient people? Is there evidence that western civilization is better than Chinese culture? Don’t westerners believe in religions? Modern people are only better than the ancients in enjoying the material life. Thousands of years ago, Chinese could accurately gauge the celestial body, predict the weather, detect tumours in human brains and remove them without any equipment.

Modern people are forced to be busy all day along to make a living. In this case, who are happier and wiser? Science has proven that human beings can only use 30% of their brains since the ancient times, which means that man has never become smarter than before. There have been countless people cultivating Buddhism and Taoism in Chinese history. Their carnal bodies are still sitting on the cattle hassocks as living beings. Yoga masters in India can be buried under the earth or submerged in the water and stay alive for dozens of days. In the west, Noah’s ark and the shroud of Christ before his resurrection still exist. You can just go there and see them by yourselves, or listen to the experiences of those who have seen them. Since those people want nothing from you, they will not lie to you. Beliefs are something concerning the future life. Just as Christ told the Roman emperor that practicing cultivation was for going to the heaven. It has nothing to do with being a king or a president in the human world. Fear of deception is a kind of “gauging a generous heart with one's own narrow mind”.

Also, is there only one space-time in the universe? Is there no life existing in other dimensions? If there is, are there some beings higher than humankind? If there are other beings, their existence will not depend on your personal faith. “ Seeing is believing” means that only after you believe something, you will start to feel it and then find its existence. Believing is like an experimental tool, only through it can you reach another dimension, which is an unknown world for us, or a world totally different from ours. If to believe is the key to another space-time, we should make it the bridge towards another space-time. Finally, we can only reach there by passing through this bridge.

Some people do not believe that there is justice and retribution in the world. However, do you think that bad people will not be punished for their evil deeds? You cannot judge it within a short period of time. If you can see beyond generations from people around you, or people in the history, you can see the relationship between cause and effect. If you can see a person through his life or several generations in his family, you can see that the justice is even. In the War of Resistance against Japan, for example, the Chinese traitors, who helped the Japanese slaughter their fellow countrymen, either died disgracefully or gave birth to miserable offspring. Besides, can you imagine what kind of miserable life or children the “revolutionists” had, after killing people in the land reformation during the Cultural Revolution?

On the other hand, the well-off people are those with good and honest ancestors. They themselves might have gone through difficulties and hardships in youth. It is said, “poverty will not last more than three generations; neither will riches. The relationship between cause and effect, and the factors of determining one’s fate are too complex for common humans like us to understand.

Some people might say that they can live a good life without believing in gods. However, when you reflect on your life, do you think that you really live a good life? When do you really feel happy during the year, the month, the week, or even just today? How many hours do you feel happy in a year? Sometimes you smile and are content for your success, which is nonetheless temporary and shallow. Thus, your smile is not sincere, because when you reflect your whole life, you will find the success just an instant sparkle in the entire darkness. What you really feel is lonely and helpless, so you try to force yourself to work even harder to avoid the feeling of nothingness. As a result, you are exhausted, and at the end of your life, you will only feel yourself wasted. If you really want to be responsible for your own life, think about the following question: what is the real happiness of life?
