Practitioners held an anti-torture exhibit in Jyväskylä on the 18th and 19th of June 2005. The exhibition exposed the brutal human rights abuses that Falun Gong practitioners have been the victim of for almost six year. The peaceful Falun Gong exercises were also demonstrated to the public.

The people of Jyväskylä were very supportive. Throughout the day, many people come forward to say, “You are doing the right thing”, and “It’s good, that somebody does this".

One girl was shocked about the conditions that practitioners have to endure in the forced labour camps in China. After looking through the exhibition, she brought her friend along to sign the petition calling for an end to the persecution. Some young boys came over and took the mickey but after learning about the true situation in China and what Falun Gong practitioners have endured, they became serious and signed the petition.

Practitioners live by Falun Gong’s principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and strive to improve their character according to these principles. The Chinese Communist Party has outlawed belief in these principles and is responsible for the deaths of over 2,600 Falun Gong practitioners. The anti-torture exhibition features simulations of a few of the torture methods used on Falun Gong practitioners who refuse to renounce their beliefs. Human rights workers have documented over 38,000 specific cases of torture or severe abuse against Falun Gong practitioners.
