Chatou Brainwashing Centre in Guangzhou has been persecuting local Falun Dafa practitioners ever since its establishment at the beginning of 2000. When it was just established, the authorities illegally charged practitioners, their workplaces and neighbourhood committee 9,500 yuan (1) every month per practitioner. The amount has been reduced to 1,000 yuan. At present, there are over ten practitioners who remain in detention and are suffering torture at the brainwashing centre. Details about each are listed below:

1. Mr. Li Jianzhong, 38 years old, is an engineer of the Guangdong Highway Design Institute. As a result of his excellent work, he was commended by his workplace. During the 2005 Spring Festival, the Party committee secretary at his workplace sent him to the brainwashing centre because he publicly told the facts of the persecution to his colleagues. In order to avoid the persecution and the constant threat of arrest, Mr. Li's wife left home with her daughter and has been homeless and destitute for almost two years. According to Lai Jianfeng, the brainwashing centre's chief instructor, Li Jianzhong's workplace knows the whereabouts of his wife and daughter. When his daughter turns two, they will arrest his wife.

2. Ms. Lu Xianming, over 30 years old, is in long-term detention at the brainwashing centre after being forced into a labour camp. She continues to go on hunger strikes to appeal against the persecution, and was force-fed three times a day for a long period of time.

3. Ms. Deng Yi, over 30 years old, was force-fed by intravenous injection for a long time due to her hunger strike.

4. Ms. Wu Xiuhua, about 30 years old, is from Guangzhou City. She was illegally sent to a forced labour camp. Ms. Wu was transferred from Chatou Detention Centre to Chatou Brainwashing Centre and has been there for more than one year. Wu Xiuhua began a hunger strike in mid-April of this year. At present she is imprisoned in a dark, damp, isolated cell, where she is suffering physically and mentally.

5. Mr. Lin Xiujin, about 60 years old, illegally detained for almost one year.

6. Ms. Zhang Li, over 40 years old, illegally detained for nearly a year because she distributed exposing the persecution.

7. Ms. Yuan Ming, 29 years old, an English teacher at Guangzhou City Evening University.

8. Ms. Yan Jin, 28 years old.

There are three more practitioners who are detained at the brainwashing centre. Their names are unknown at this stage.

Xu Qingsong is a Tianhe District 610 Office (2) policeman. When practitioners asked his name, he lied, saying that his first name is Hai. He is notorious for brutally persecuting Dafa practitioners. He appears ferocious but he is extremely frightened inside.

Others participating in the persecution of Dafa practitioners include:

Lu Hai, a policeman from the Tianhe District 610 Office, phone number 13802742011 (mobile phone)

Wang Junxia, Security Bureau Assistant, 28 years old, from Shandong Province. Wang Junxia came to South China looking for work and was hired by the brainwashing centre. Her phone number is 86-20-33033015 (mobile).

There are other security guards who also came to South China looking for work and were hired by the brainwashing centre to assist the persecution of Dafa practitioners. Their monthly salary is less than 1,000 yuan and most of them are young women of about 20 years old.

Brainwashing Centre telephone: 86-20-81730255, 86-20-81730648.

Note:

(1) "Yuan" is the Chinese currency; 500 yuan is equal to the average monthly income of an urban worker in China.

(2) "The 610 office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.
