Practitioner Ms. Li Shulan, 59, lived in Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province. After she started practising Dafa in 1996, all of her illnesses disappeared. She passed away on December 31, 2003 because of persecution she suffered at the hands of the police.

At around 8:00 a.m. one day in October 2001, about eight officers from the Jintie Police Station broke into Li Shulan's home and ransacked it. They abducted Li Shulan and a high school student who was also a Dafa practitioner, who later suffered a nervous breakdown due to torture. The policemen sent them to the No. 2 Detention Centre. Soon after her release, as she took a stroll on February 17, 2002 after dinner, officers from the Jintie Police Station arrested her again. They said someone reported that Li Shulan was posting Falun Dafa materials, but they couldn't present any evidence. They again sent her to the No. 2 Detention Centre. Her family paid a fine and she was released.

On the morning of May 17, 2002, a dozen officers from the Jintie Police Station broke into Li Shulan's home again. They abducted her and her neighbour and took them to the Jinzhou City Brainwashing Class. Li Shulan was tortured for a long time. She renounced Dafa against her conscience. After she returned home, she published a solemn announcement and vowed she would continue to practise Dafa.

Li Shulan was abducted three times within seven months and was held for a long time. During her detention she was tortured physically and mentally. She started to have paranoia and thought every police officer on the street was after her. She returned to her hometown but still lived in fear. She suffered a relapse of her old illness and passed away on December 31, 2003.
