Mr. Li Jingchun, 70, and his wife were Falun Gong practitioners from Fangshan District, Beijing City. They appealed for Falun Dafa peacefully on several occasions at Tiananmen Square. The local police often searched their home without warrants, confiscating their property and threatened them. They passed away one after the other in February 2000 and May 2001 respectively. Police repeatedly and illegally arrested, harassed and monitored their youngest son, Mr. Li Baoxing. Recently the Court of Jiaozuo City, Henan Province sentenced him to 15 years' imprisonment. Right now he is being detained in Xinmi City Prison, Henan Province.

Mr. Shan Yuesheng, 66, lived in Nanchang County, Jiangxi Province. Before he began to practise Falun Dafa in 1996, Mr. Shan suffered from a serious disease called "an unusual syndrome of liver cirrhosis caused by late period bilharziasis." (1) After he began cultivating, he quickly regained his health. After the persecution of Falun Gong began on July 20, 1999, he peacefully appealed for Falun Dafa in Beijing in 2000. When he returned from Beijing, local officials searched his house without a warrant, confiscated his property, and detained him, as ordered by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Officers from the Liantang Police Station often made harassing phone calls to him, watched him closely, and deprived him of his personal freedom. This persecution caused his previous disease to return. He passed away in early 2003.

Mr. Zhao Lianhe, who was in his 60s, worked for the Linxi County Revenue Bureau of Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia. He had served as the Head of the Linxi County Revenue Bureau, but he retired from his position due to serious heart disease and high blood pressure. Soon after he started practising Falun Gong in 1998, he regained his health. When the persecution of Falun Gong began on July 20, 1999, the local CCP Organizing Department, the Political and Legal Committee Chief, and other lawless officials exerted great psychological pressure on him, and forced him to surrender his Dafa books. He often carried medicine with him, and needed emergency assistance on several occasions. He started practising Falun Gong in 1995 and soon regained his health. He later discarded all of his medicines. He was persecuted for a long time. The CCP officials ordered his neighbours to watch him closely, and local police and National Security guards repeatedly went to his home to harass and threaten him. In the summer of 2003, the criminal local officials forced him to sign the so-called "Six watching one" contract (2) to restrict his personal freedom. The pressure was too much for him and it caused his previous diseases to return. He passed away in June 2004.

He was also illegally detained for more than 20 days in the Yi County Detention Centre in August 2001. He suffered tremendous physical and mental torture, and his health deteriorated. In addition, in September 2001, his daughter was sentenced to three years' detention in a labour camp, and she was detained at the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp because she peacefully appealed for Falun Gong in Beijing. These changes were legendary among the local people. Then her only daughter peacefully appealed for Falun Dafa in Beijing. As a result, she was sentenced to 18 months detention and forced labour, and detained at the Beijing Women's Forced Labour Camp in September 2001. The grandson of Mrs. Wei Kou was also detained in the Beijing Tuanhe Forced Labour Camp for the same reason. Meanwhile, police harassed her.
