United States: Falun Gong Practitioners Rally in front of U.S. Supreme Court in Washington DC to Expose Jiang Zemin's Crimes

At noon on April 13, practitioners in the Washington DC area rallied in front of the U.S. Supreme Court to expose the crimes committed by Jiang Zemin against innocent Falun Gong practitioners and to urge the Supreme Court to accept the lawsuit against Jiang.

In front of the Supreme Court, practitioners displayed banners in both English and Chinese reading "Stop human rights violations, bring Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin to justice," "After murdering and imprisoning tens of thousands of innocent people, Jiang sued for genocide," "Bring Jiang Zemin to Justice," "Stop genocide (against Falun Gong) in China."

Jiang Zemin's Crimes

Chen Jun, representative of the International Organisation to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong, said: "Over the past 6 years, the Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin has used the state machinery to launch and maintain a large scale brutal persecution of tens of millions of Falun Gong practitioners who believe in 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.' The Jiang regime has employed the most vicious and brutal methods in human history to try to coerce practitioners to give up their belief. They have used deprivation of sleep for days, electric shocks with high voltage batons, force-feeding, brainwashing, injections and forced-intake of drugs that damage the neural system, etc."

Since Jiang Zemin started to promote and implement state terrorism in China, countless Falun Gong practitioners have been murdered and injured, families have been torn apart, and many have been forced to leave their homes to avoid further persecution. Meanwhile, hundreds of millions of family members, relatives, friends and coworkers of practitioners have also been subjected to propaganda and implicated to different extents.

According to incomplete statistics, on April 13, 2005, at least 1735 practitioners had been persecuted to death, while at least 200,000 have been sentenced to prison terms, more than 100,000 have been sent to labour camps, several thousand have been sent to mental hospitals to suffer from abuse of drugs that damage their neural system, and countless practitioners have been abducted to "brainwashing classes" for physical and mental abuse.

Local Residents Expose Jiang's Crime

DC resident Zhao Meifang narrated her younger sister Zhao Meiyu's tragedy. For believing in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" and appealing for Falun Gong, her sister was detained and then sentenced to prison. Ms. Zhao Meiyu went to Beijing to appeal and to clarify the facts about Falun Gong to the authorities in December 1999 and January 2000. She was arrested and sent to forced labour camps by Huizhou police in Guangdong Province on two occasions. When she was detained in Sanshui Women Forced Labour Camp, Ms. Zhao was submitted to all kinds of torture methods. To force her to give up Falun Gong, she was forced to stay in a "dark room" and perform slave labour. She was forced to work for 12 hours a day.

In May 2003, Ms. Zhao Meiyu was arrested again and sentenced to 7 years in prison for indicating in a phone call her will to join plaintiffs to sue Jiang Zemin.

During her speech, Ms. Zhao Meifang said: "Jiang fears my sister, as he knows that he can't face millions of practitioners persecuted by him. He can only cover up his atrocities with lies. However, the truth can't be covered up forever. He must be held accountable for his crimes, and he can never stop practitioners from exposing the facts about the persecution."

On November 19, 2004, the Epoch Times published the "Nine Commentaries on Communist Party". In its fifth commentary "On the Collusion of Jiang Zemin and the Chinese Communist Party to Persecute Falun Gong," the Times wrote: "Since China began economic reforms in the late 1970s, the CCP has endeavoured to build a positive, liberal image in the international community. However, the persecution of Falun Gong over the last five years, which has been bloody, irrational, widespread, vehement and brutal, has enabled the international community to once again witness the true face of the CCP and the biggest disgrace on the CCP's human rights record. The general public in China, under the delusion that the CCP has been improving and progressing, has become used to blaming the low morality of the police for the atrocities committed by the Chinese legal system and law enforcement. However, the brutal, systematic persecution of Falun Gong is ubiquitous throughout every level of Chinese society and has completely burst the illusion of improved human rights. Many people are now pondering how such a bloody and outrageous persecution could have happened in China. The social order was stabilised after the chaos of the Great Cultural Revolution 20 years ago. Why has China entered another similar cycle of nightmarish events? Why is Falun Gong, which upholds the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance" and has been promulgated in over 60 countries worldwide, being persecuted only in China, not anywhere else in the world? In this persecution, what is the relationship between Jiang Zemin and the CCP?"

"Jiang Zemin exploited the state machinery controlled by the CCP to serve the objective of persecuting Falun Gong. The CCP-controlled apparatus includes the army, the media, public security personnel, the police, para-military police, state security forces, judicial system, the National People's Congress, diplomatic personnel as well as sham religious groups."

During the Central Committee's working conference in 1999, in which the suppression of Falun Gong was ordered, Jiang Zemin claimed, "I just don't believe that the CCP can't beat Falun Gong." In planning the strategy of the suppression, three policies were put in place: "to ruin [Falun Gong practitioners'] reputations, bankrupt [them] financially, and destroy [them] physically." A campaign of suppression subsequently went into full operation.

Dr. Zuiwei Huang, the general manager of the Epoch Times in Washington DC, said during the rally: "Since the publication of the 9 commentary articles, more and more Chinese have been awakened to the truth. After recognising the evil nature of the Chinese Communist Party, more than 800,000 people have quit the Party and other Communist organisations in just 4 months."

Lawsuit against Jiang Zemin is a Milestone

Attorney Marsh expressed: "No matter what the result of the case will be, the more important thing is the process. During the process of submitting this lawsuit to local court, the 7th Circuit and the Supreme Court, we have exposed the persecution and stated clearly to all the perpetrators: Anyone who has participated in the persecution of Falun Gong will be sued as soon as they land on U.S. soil."

Marsh said: "During this process, through clarifying the truth of the case to Capitol Hill, media and public, we have broken the silence and tried our best to let the world know the genocide the torture crimes of Jiang Zemin against Falun Gong practitioners."

She believes that this lawsuit is a milestone, as it has set up an example in the legal community and triggered worldwide lawsuits against Jiang Zemin. Currently, more than 30 lawyers around the world are jointly suing Jiang Zemin.

Marsh said: "The voice of justice has been spread to all corners of the world: Jiang must be held accountable for persecuting Falun Gong."

Lawsuit Against Jiang Reflects the Founding Philosophy of the United States

World Organisation to Bring Jiang Zemin to Justice representative Rob Kent said: "The founding philosophy of the United States, the Declaration of Independence states: 'We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.' The international mission of the U.S. is to safeguard the spirit put forth by the Declaration of Independence. The lawsuit against Jiang submitted to the Supreme Court reflects the founding philosophy of the States.

The U.S. Supreme Court will decide whether or not to accept this case around April 15.
