When Czech practitioners toured the country to inform people about Falun Gong and the Chinese Communist Party’s persecution against the practice in China, many journalists came to find out more and report on practitioners’ efforts. On the 5th of February, an appeal in Hradec Kralove was visited by regional TV reporters, who came to shoot some footage and interview the practitioners.

The report was broadcast that same evening in all three of the station’s news broadcasts and in a repeat the next day. The report on the Falun Gong activity was actually the first feature in that day’s news programme, so hundreds of thousands people who tuned in to watch the news got to learn about Falun Gong‘s appeal to stop the persecution in China.

Here is a transcript of the report:

Reporter: Today in Hradec Kralove, Falun Gong practitioners held an appeal to stop the persecution of Falun Gong and its practitioners in China. Falun Gong is a practice of exercises and meditation that, due to its good effects in improving health, spread very quickly not only all over China but also the whole world. But the Chinese communist regime perceived its popularity as a threat, so in 1999 the government banned the practice; people who practise these exercises are now being persecuted, tortured and killed.

Interview with Practitioner: "Activities that are trying to stop the persecution like this one are being held all over the world. In our country, we visit at least one city every week, where we perform the Falun Gong exercises and inform people about the persecution using display boards that describe the torture methods.”

Reporter: One way that people can express their condemnation and protest against this persecution is by signing a petition, which will eventually be given to a petition bureau of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. More information and the petition itself can be found on the website www.falungong.cz.
