Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Baozhen, 69, died in February 2003 at his home as a result of the persecution he was subjected to.

Mr. Wang Baozhen went to Beijing to peacefully appeal on behalf of Falun Dafa and deliver truth-clarifying materials. As a result his entire family was taken into custody at a Detention Centre in Hebei Province and held for slave labour. Mr. Wang was beaten by the lead inmate in his cell and by detention centre officers, including Zuo Guangchao. He was also forced to pay an exorbitant fine of over 9,000 yuan.

In 2001, Mr. Wang was arrested several times by the local police. Mr. Wang's family and some other local Falun Dafa practitioners were forced into exile as a result of police roundups. His two sons were arrested at his home in 2001 and 2002 respectively. Under the weight of the local authorities' persecution, Mr. Wang died at his home in February 2003.
