On Wednesday, December 19th the Finnish Falun Dafa Association was registered and established with the National Board of Patents and Registration of Finland. With this, Finnish Falun Dafa Association is now listed in the association register, and thus is official in Finland.

During the year 2001, Falun Dafa attracted many new practitioners in Finland, and with the work of the new and the veteran practitioners together with some Swedish fellow practitioners, Falun Dafa has spread all over Finland. Information leaflets have been handed out in the streets, weekend courses to teach the Falun Gong exercises have been held in all the major cities of Finland, and two Finnish cities now have a weekly practice class and a third one is planned for next year.

Two press conferences have been held in Helsinki, the capital of Finland, and a contact with the human rights unit of the Finnish government's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been established. Members of the Parliament of Finland have met with the practitioners and received information on Falun Dafa and its persecution. The President of Finland has also received information, and on September 20th, a letter from the Office of the President was received. The letter was written on behalf of the President by an adviser. In the letter the adviser states the Finnish government's awareness of the situation, and discussed the human rights policy of Finland and the European Union.

With the establishing of Finnish Falun Dafa Association, the practitioners in Finland are looking forward to next year, which will surely witness growing numbers of truthful reports on Falun Dafa in the Finnish media, as well as more and more of Dafa activities in Finland.
