Mr. Jin Zunyi, born in 1974, graduated from a radio and TV broadcasting school. He worked in the Chang Yun Company in Jiangxi Province and he started to practise Falun Gong in March of 1999. On September 23, 1999, Mr. Jin went to Beijing to peacefully and lawfully speak out against the wrongful persecution of those who practise Falun Gong and was arrested on October 13, 1999. He was then transferred back to Nanchang City by train. He died en route.

Hearing of Mr. Jin's death, his parents, elder sister and the local police from Nanchang City Police Department and Xinjian Township Police Station went to Beijing. His family saw that his body was in three parts. One of his legs was severed from the groin with a sharp cross section that looked like it had been hacked off, yet the police stated that he died as a result of jumping from the train.

According to an insider, on October 13, 1999, the Nanchang police arrested Mr. Jin Zunyi alongside several other Falun Gong practitioners and were transferring them to Nanchang City. At the time, there were seven policemen and four Falun Gong practitioners. Among the Falun Gong practitioners were Mr. Jin Zunyi and Jiang Genjin, who died as a result of persecution at a later time.

It was heard later that Mr. Jin jumped from the train to avoid further persecution for practising Falun Gong. A policeman from Wazijiao Police Station in Nanchang City, Chen Yue, departed the train at the next station to chase after him. After over an hour, police officer Chen Yue phoned back to Nanchang City, saying that Mr. Jin broke his leg and died after being sent to the hospital.
