Mr. Song Wenhua, a 56-year-old railroad employee in Tonghua City, Jinlin Province, went to Hulutao Town to spread the truth about Falun Dafa during the SARS epidemic in 2003. He was arrested by the county government and sent to Chaoyanggou Forced Labour Camp. On October 8, 2004, the labour camp released Mr. Song because he was dying and they could not treat his condition. Song Wenhua left the world on the night of October 17.

An official at Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp has conceded that it matters not if a Falun Gong practitioner is old, weak, sick, or disabled, as long as the practitioner is alive, he or she won't be released. If the practitioner is dying, he or she will be left outside the labour camp's front gate, so it won't appear that the labour camp has persecuted the practitioner to death.

According to a reliable source from Chaoyanggou Forced Labour Camp, Mr. Song's physical condition started to deteriorate in March 2004, as a result of the persecution he suffered at the labour camp. The camp already knew he had pulmonary tuberculosis and other illnesses after repeated check-ups. One of Mr. Song's more severe conditions was that 80 percent of the pleural membrane on one side of his chest cavity was full of fluid; it was a life threatening condition. In June, the labour camp informed the family that Mr. Song's pulmonary tuberculosis had progressively worsened and now his lungs were infected and he would be released on bail for medical treatment. But two months later, Mr. Song had still not been released. His family went to request his release, but the labour camp said the Judicial Bureau had not approved his release. So the family went to the Judicial Bureau. The Judicial Bureau's Director Zhang said, "We cannot casually release anyone if their life is not in danger. If something happens, they will take care of it."

They postponed Mr. Song's release for another two months, and they also cancelled family visits. During this period of time, Mr. Song, who was very weak already, was still forced to do the daily workload of a healthy person.

Later, Mr. Song developed a high fever above 39o C (102.2o F) and his temperature did not go down for more than 10 days. He couldn't eat anything for four or five consecutive days. He vision was blurred and he almost lost his hearing. The forced labour camp didn't report this and delayed his treatment. When Mr. Song's family met him again, he couldn't take care of himself, nor could he talk. He was skinny as a rake. He was only 56 years old, but he looked 70 because of the persecution. Mr. Song was released on October 8, 2004 and a few days later he left this world, passing away under great injustice.
