The Ganjjingzi District Court in Dianlian City sentenced Mr. Xu Zhibin to fourteen years of imprisonment in September 2002 because he practised Falun Gong.

The court announced its verdict despite having no witnesses, no evidence, and no oral representation. When his family members asked Hu Xiaoping, the department chief, on what grounds the verdict was based, she replied, "This is discipline. No one can talk about it." Xu Zhibin is now detained in Wafangdian Prison, Liaoning Province.

Xu Zhibin has been very weak since August 2003. The police still insist that he remain in prison. The whole process, from being sentenced to being sent to the Wafangdian Prison, was carried out secretly. With great difficulty, the family members finally discovered his whereabouts. They haven't received a copy of the written judgment yet, even though a year has passed.

When the family members went to visit him on October 20, 2004, they could see that Xu Zhibin was extremely weak. He was as thin as a skeleton. His legs were numb. Two people had to assist him out, because he could not walk properly.

Xu Zhibin has been arrested six times since July 20, 1999, and has suffered brutal torture. He is about six feet tall, yet he only weighs about 88 pounds. However, he has never given up his belief in "Truth, Compassion, and Forbearance." His family members are now strongly requesting his immediate and unconditional release.
