Mr. Tang Zhenghua was freed from his chronic illnesses after practising Falun Gong. In May 2001, he clarified the truth about Falun Gong and was abducted and sent to a detention centre, where he was brutally tortured. He passed away on October 9, 2004.

Tang Zhenghua was around 50 years of age. He lived in a village near Chongqing City. Before he practised Falun Gong, he had asthma, diabetes and an affliction where he would feel great discomfort whenever he wore long trousers. Even in the winter, he had to wear shorts. Because of his illnesses, he had to stay home all the time. Due to his poor health, used to take him a long time to walk even ten yards. The whole village knew about his condition.

In late 1998, Tang Zhenghua started to practise Falun Gong and conducted himself according to Truth, Compassion, Tolerance. Soon all of his illnesses disappeared and he could do heavy manual labour and often helped his neighbours who were in need.

After July 20, 1999, the local authorities continually persecuted Tang Zhenghua. In May 2001 when he clarified the truth about Falun Gong, police officers arrested him and sent him to a detention centre, where he was cruelly tortured. The guards didn't allow him to sleep for many days and nights. Later, they forced him to sleep on the wet floor. He suffered three broken ribs from being beaten, and blood clots spread from his right side throughout his body. He also developed oedema. Mr. Tang passed away on October 9, 2004.
