Ms. Yang Mingxia, 49 years old, was a Falun Gong practitioner from Maoming City, Guangdong Province. She started practising Falun Gong in 1997.

Although Jiang Zemin's faction has cruelly persecuted Falun Gong since July the 20th 1999, Ms. Yang Mingxia persevered in cultivating Falun Gong's principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance." She was a determined practitioner and never followed the orders of the perpetrators of the persecution.

In 2001 Ms. Yang was arrested and sent to a detention centre. Later she was sent to the Sanshui Forced Labour Camp in Guangdong Province for three years of forced labour. She suffered from severe physical tortures and spiritual abuse in the labour camp. Ms. Yang was released in January 2004 and went home. The head of the town's "610 Office," and police from the local police station often monitored, harassed and threatened Ms. Yang. As a result, four months later, in May 2004, Ms. Yang Mingxia passed away.
