Ms. Zhang Guiqin was born in 1936 and lived in Jilin City, Jilin Province. Prior to her retirement, she was the vice principal of No. 39 Middle School of Jilin City. Due to the persecution, she sustained grave mental and physical trauma. She passed away on December 9, 2003. The following is her story.

Ms. Zhang Guiqin began practising Falun Dafa in 1997 and greatly benefitted from the practice. On October 1, 2000, she went to Beijing with fellow practitioners to appeal for justice for Falun Dafa. She was arrested by officers from the city's "610 Office," district police department and Zhanqian Police Station. They held her in the city jail for two weeks. As she persisted in practising Dafa, in 2001 the city and district "610 Office" staff and police detained her in the Changyi District Brainwashing Class for 30 days. Later she walked out of the brainwashing class while maintaining righteous thoughts and was the only one who was not brainwashed at that time.

In 2002 she was arrested by personnel from the city's "610 Office" and was not released until three weeks later. In December 2002, police again detained her for over a year when she went to Tiananmen Square in Beijing to appeal for Dafa. She again escaped. In July 2003, the "610 Office" and the police attempted to come to her home to arrest her, but failed due to her and her family's resistance. Since she firmly practised Falun Gong, her Party membership was cancelled.

Because of the severe and frequent persecution, and the long-term harassment by the city and district "610 Office," district police department, and City No. 39 Middle School, Zhang succumbed to the severe physical and mental trauma and passed away on December 9, 2003.

Mr. Qiao Yanqing was born in 1941, and was a senior engineer at the Jilin City Refrigerator Factory. He lived in Jilin City, Jilin Province.

After July 20, 1999, when the Jiang Zemin faction started to crazily persecute Falun Dafa, he continued to practise. When he wrote a letter to the Chinese Premier to appeal, the letter was intercepted and sent back to the local police. He was thus persecuted by personnel from the "610 Office" and police officers.

In late January 2001, before the Chinese New Year, he went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa. He was arrested at the Beijing Train Station as soon as he got off the train and sent back to Jilin City where he was tortured by enforcers from the "610 Office" and the police. He passed away not long after on January 30.
