Swedish Newspaper "Svenska Dagbladet": How Much Help will we Continue Providing to China to Maintain the Persecution?

On September 20th, Synpunkt in Svenska Dagbladet carried a letter signed by Mats Karlsson with the title "How much help will we still provide to China to maintain the persecution?"

I saw an election advertisement by Leif Pagrotsky whose topic was “ Humanity is more important than the markets.” I can’t help thinking of China when I see that Ericsson is being criticised by an International Organisation of Human Rights.

If only Sweden and international societies would act like “humans are more important than markets”! It is a pity that the investment in Chinese markets are being used to aid the regime to suppress its people indirectly.

At present there are 6,800,000 people being detained in forced labour camps in China, about half of them are Falun Gong practitioners (the material comes from Forced Labour Camps www.laogai.org). In those forced labour camps, the detained people are not only suffering from torture openly but also they are forced to produce products. These products are exported to western countries.

Those who refuse to give up practising Falun Gong are forced out of their jobs. No companies or enterprises are allowed to permit their employees to practise Falun Gong or support Falun Gong, and what’s more, foreign enterprises are no exception.

China is a country that wants to keep good relationship with many countries and China is also considered to be an important market by many companies and enterprises including Swedish companies and enterprises. Now I would like to raise a question: Can our conscience allow this situation to be still going on?
