On Sunday the 29th of August, 'Compassion Day' was held in the city of Turku, the purpose of which was to awaken the compassion in people to care more for one another. In the opening speech of 'Compassion Day' the organisers urged people to have a compassionate attitude towards everyone they come in to contact with in the next 30 days, as if that person is the most important person in the whole world.

Falun Dafa practitioners enriched the event by telling people about the benefits and principles of Falun Dafa, which emphasizes goodness and compassion in its teachings. Practitioners also raised awareness of the cruelty of the persecution that Mainland Chinese Falun Dafa practitioners have been subjected to. Almost every visitor and exhibitor in the event came to support practitioners by signing the petition that demands an immediate end to the persecution in China.

Many children and their parents got folded lotus flowers from the practitioners' table. Children were taught how to fold the flowers themselves and the teacher from the kindergarten took several flowers as a tip for her work. The Lotus flower is known as a symbol of cultivation practice and purity in Asia.

While watching the Falun Dafa exercise demonstration a woman said that she felt very relaxed and calm. She noticed that the practice was good for body and mind. Many people stopped to talk with practitioners about the principles of Falun Dafa and the nature of practice. People were supportive and positive towards Falun Dafa.
