Kidnapping, Extortion, Forced Labor Education and Detention: The Persecution of Falun Dafa Practitioners in Maoming City

Qijing Township, Maoming City, Guangdong Province

Liu Zhenxue, a 38-year-old teacher at the Qijing Township middle school, was denied his salary because he practices Falun Gong. On July 16, 2000, he was arrested from his home by the police and imprisoned at Dianbai Second Detention Center for half a month. On the night of December 28, 2000, he was again arrested and detained in Dianbai Second Detention Center. In August 2001, he was transferred to the Maoming brainwashing class. Currently, he is still being detained in the brainwashing class.

Feng Wandi is 20 years old. On December 6, 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal and was arrested and transferred to Sha County, Hebei Province. She was imprisoned there for over a month and then transferred back to Dianbai Second Detention Center. She was released on April 20, 2001 and forced to pay over 2,000 Yuan.

Yang Minxia is a 48-year-old practitioner. Because she signed an appeal letter to an international human rights organization about the Falun Gong persecution story, she was arrested and imprisoned for 37 days. On July 16, 2000 she was again arrested from her home and detained for 18 days at Dianbai Second Detention Center. Both times, she was charged 10 Yuan per day for her meals while in jail. On December 6, 2000 she was again arrested from her home and sentenced to two years in prison. Currently she is detained in Sanshui Forced Labor Camp in Guangdong Province.

Poxin Township, Maoming City

Zheng Meiqiong, a female practitioner who is around 40 years old, is a representative of Poxin Villagers' Committee. Before learning Falun Gong, she could not move half of her body. After practicing Falun Gong, she became a healthy person again. On the night of November 9, 1999, she was taken to Dianbai Second Detention Center and not released until January 3, 2000. While detained, she was charged 10 Yuan for her meals each day. On February 24, 2000 she was again arrested from her home and sent to the drug rehabilitation center, where she was forced to attend brainwashing class for 20 days. On July 17, 2000, she was arrested from home by the police again and imprisoned for 15 days at Dianbai Second Detention Center. She was again charged 10 Yuan per day for her meals there.
Around mid September of 2000, she was forced to report to the police department every day and was monitored for over a year. Also, the police forced their way into her home and took away her television set and many Falun Dafa books. Even after all of these events, nobody was willing to help resolve these issues for her in her local district. On December 10, 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal and attest to the validity of Dafa. The local police department arrested her 14-year-old son while he was at school and extorted 6,200 Yuan from her family. Currently Zheng Meiqiong is being imprisoned in Sanshui Forced Labor Camp in Guangdong Province. She has been sentenced to one year in jail.

Huang Meiqing, a female practitioner who is over 20 years old, is a temporary worker at the Poxin Post Office. On December 5, 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal and was arrested at the Guangzhou train station. Because she went to appeal, she was detained for half a month. On July 17, 2000, she was again arrested from her workplace by the police and detained for 15 days at Dianbai Second Detention Center. She was then transferred to Dianbai First Detention Center, where she was held for a month. Her family had to use a special relationship with the police department as well as spend over several thousand Yuan in order to get her out of jail. In mid December of 2000 she went to Beijing to appeal. As a result, she was sentenced to two years in jail, and currently she is imprisoned in Sanshui Forced Labor Camp in Guangdong Province.
