Zhong Hong was a 31-year-old Dafa practitioner from Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. On the evening of May 8, 2004, she was arrested by police while writing Dafa messages on the wall of Dongfeng Prison in Harbin. She was sent to the Second Detention Centre in Harbin. On May 10, her family was allowed to visit her. That was the last time her family saw her alive. In the beginning of June, she was sentenced to 3 years of forced labour. When the police sent her to the Wanjia Labour Camp, however, the camp refused to take her because she failed the medical examination. The police then took her back to the detention centre to be persecuted. On July 22, without informing Zhang's family, the detention centre guards managed to get Wanjia Labour Camp to take her in. Nine days later, on July 31, the labour camp informed her family that she had died in the 211 Hospital of Harbin. When her family went to the hospital, they saw that her eyes and mouth were wide open, and she had lost about 40 pounds of weight in a very short period of time. The Wanjia Labour Camp is directly responsible for her death.
