Mr. Yang Jiuhe is a 40 year old farmer from Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province. In October 2001, some of the corrupt government officials in Zhouqu County repeatedly harassed Yang at his home. They accused Yang of practising Falun Dafa and publicly distributing Falun Dafa truth clarification materials. They attempted to force him to give up the practice and demanded that all the Dafa books be turned in. They also threatened to arrest him. To avoid being persecuted, Yang was forced to leave his home and live under unstable conditions. The police department, however, hired someone to follow and spy on him. One night in June 2002, dozens of policemen from the Zhouqu County Police Department broke into Yang's home and confiscated all the Dafa books and pictures of the Teacher. On a night in May 2003, after receiving a tip, police Department abducted Mr. Yang from his home. To ensure the success of the operation, the police even forced Pingding Township's local government to assign dozens of people to assist. They broke into Yang's home by climbing over his backyard wall, abducted him, and took him to the police station. Under unlawful coercion, Yang was tried without any results, and held for a total of five months. Furthermore, in October of 2003, Yang was sentenced to three years in a forced labour camp, and taken into custody at the Lanzhou Pingantai Forced Labour Camp. His condition remains unknown. Now that Mr. Yang is in the forced labour camp, his wife must care for his eighty-plus year-old mother and their young child by herself. Moreover, all the family chores and tasks are left to her. This has put an enormous burden on his family's finances and living conditions. The family is also under tremendous mental pressure.
