Dafa practitioner Ms. Wang Liyan from Mudanjiang City was arrested in August 2002. She suffered inhuman tortures and abuses in prison for one and a-half years. By the time she was released, she was severely traumatized. Ms. Wang passed away on January 23, 2004.

Ms. Wang, 48 years old, was a Dafa practitioner in Ningan City in the Mudanjiang area in Heilongjiang Province. She was arrested from home in August 2002 for distributing truth-clarifying information. Local police inhumanly tortured her by all kinds of methods to try to force Ms. Wang to tell them the source of the truth clarifying materials. Ms. Wang Liyan suffered continuous tortures for six days and nights, yet refused to tell the police anything. By the time she was sent to a detention centre, Ms. Wang Liyan looked so horrifying from the tortures she suffered that all the other inmates in her cell were too scared to sleep next to her.

Ms. Wang was sentenced to three years of forced labour a month later, and sent to Harbin City Female Drug Rehabilitation Centre for further torment. Two months later, when her family members were finally allowed to visit her, they could not recognize her. Since Ms. Wang suffered a mental collapse, her family members exhausted their connections and efforts and tried to get her out of prison. She was released one and a-half years later and mentally traumatized by the time she returned home. She lost control of her speech, her arms and legs and could not smile or cry or have any other facial expression. She had a hard time falling asleep, and suffered from heart problems and severe headaches. Ms. Wang Liyan passed away on January 23, 2004.
