Zhang Jingying and her three sons are Falun Gong practitioners from Ningwu City, Ningxia Province; the father is deceased. The family members were harmonious and got along extremely well with their neighbours. However since July 20, 1999 when the brutal persecution of Falun Dafa started, there has not been a peaceful day for the family. The eldest son Bai Bin was illegally sentenced to ten years in prison, the second son was sentenced to 4 years in prison and the third son was sentenced to three years in a forced labour camp.

One afternoon a few policemen stormed into Zhang Jingying's home, and without a word they arrested the eldest son, Bai Bin. The next day, when the family demanded the release of Bai Bin, they were asked to pay 3000 Yuan (1) in bail; otherwise the police would not release him. Since then the police have frequently ransacked their house, searched for Dafa books and left their house in disarray. The police have also gone to Bai Bin's office, asking him to participate in all kinds of meetings. They tried to force him to write statements to renounce Falun Dafa until he had to stop working there in order to avoid the police's harassment.

Since the son could not work anymore at the office, he opened his own company doing housework. No matter what kind of jobs they did, all the sons followed the standard of a practitioner. They endured hardships and hard work, never overcharging for anything . However, the police often secretly followed them. If one of them got in touch with other Dafa practitioners, they would immediately report to the police station and arrest those practitioners.

When Zhang Jingying finally discovered that those who had tailed them were neighbours of their shop, they clarified the truth about Falun Dafa to them. The police were infuriated and closed their shop. Having no choice, they sold their shop and looked for other jobs.

The police set this family up as a target and continued to persecute them. In January of 2001, Zhang Jingying's eldest son Bai Bin was illegally arrested and sentenced to nine months of forced labour. On September 9, 2002 he was arrested a second time. Bai Bin clarified the truth to the judge in court and talked about the goodness of Dafa, and told them how Dafa can make people become more compassionate, elevate the morality of mankind and improve health. They did not listen, nor did they follow legal procedures. The court sentenced him to ten years in prison. He is now detained in the Third Prison section of Taixi Prison in Daiwukou City Ningxia Province.

Zhang Jingying's second son, Bai Jun was arrested on November 16, 2002. He was illegally sentenced to four years in prison and is now detained at Hedong in the Third Prison section of Fengji Factory Yinchuan City Ningxia Province. When the police arrested him, they searched his home inside and out. They took a passbook containing 5000 Yuan, 1100 Yuan in cash and a mobile phone, none of which have been returned. These police also claimed that they could confiscate Falun Gong practitioners' money as if it were evidence.

The police not only frequently searched the homes of Zhang Jingying's sons; they also unscrupulously disturbed and searched their relatives' homes. They also constantly summoned and threatened the two daughters-in-law, who are not practitioners. They order the daughters-in-law to give them information. They tried to force them to divorce their husbands if the two brothers refused to renounce Falun Dafa. They also forced the daughters-in-law to pay 2000 Yuan as a "guarantor while they await trial." The daughters-in-law were deceived by the vicious slander, causing them to go against their mother-in-law. The family now faces being torn apart.

Zhang Jingying's third son, Bai Tao, was illegally arrested on December 2, 2001 and sentenced to three years of forced labour.
