After learning about the shooting of an Australian Falun Gong practitioner who travelled to South Africa to peacefully appeal during the visit by Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong and Minister of Commerce Bo Xilai, German practitioners gathered in front of the Chinese Embassy in Bonn on the 29th and 30th of June. Directly opposite the Embassy’s window, practitioners held banners reading ‘China: Stop Killing Falun Gong Practitioners’ and ‘Strongly Condemn the Jiang Regime’s Terrorist Act of Hiring Gunmen to shoot at Falun Gong practitioners’. Passengers in passing buses and cars were attracted by the banners and the scenes of the practitioners doing exercises and sending righteous thoughts.

When the local police came to check our permission for the appeal, they were slightly unsatisfied with the inconvenience caused by our temporary application. So we told them about the South Africa incident and expressed our concerns that this case indicates a threat to the safety of all overseas practitioners. Thus, the aim of our temporary application is to let the Chinese Embassy know about the incident as soon as possible.

The police not only showed that they fully understood us, but also asked to see news reports, leaflets and press release regarding the South Africa incident in order to understand the truth about Falun Gong in more depth.

We handed out the press release to people who were waiting for buses and passing by. Many people came to look at our posters showing the torture methods used upon Falun Gong practitioners in China. After learning about the recent assassination attempt in South Africa, people were shocked. Some cars even stopped at our protest and came down to pick up a leaflet. Among the cars passing in and out of the Chinese Embassy, there was one precious Chinese man who smiled at us and stopped his car to ask for a leaflet.
