Dongjiao District Policemen Wickedly Torture Practitioner Zhao to Try and Extract "Evidence"

Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province

On the evening of February 24, 2001, the police from Dongjiao District police station in Mudanjiang City came to practitioner Zhao Jun's mother's house. They forcibly abducted Zhao, who was visiting his parents from out of town, to the police station, under the pretext of wanting to talk to him, and without producing any warrant for his arrest.

In order to extract information from the practitioner so that they could use it to further persecute other practitioners, the wicked police that night savagely tortured him with "rope tightening," "piercing finger tips with needles," and "scraping the bone with coins" methods. They used the rope tightening method on Zhao three times in a row. [Note: The police tie up the practitioner with a thin rope, circle the rope around his neck, and tie his hands behind his back. Then the police use all the force they could muster to tighten the rope. The rope becomes tighter and tighter around the body of the practitioner, and makes it more and more difficult for him to breathe. The pain is so intense that the practitioner sometimes loses control of his bladder. There are instances when the rope was tightened enough to break or severely injure a practitioner's arm.]

He passed out each time from the intense pain. Then they used a needle to stab his fingertips and used a coin to scrape the bone in his armpit. The non-stop torture throughout the night severely damaged the auxillary nerve to his right arm (later he became incapacitated because of the delay in receiving medical attention). When their torture failed to accomplish their objective, they tricked his son (non-practitioner), a freshman in an out-of-town college into coming to the police station. They handcuffed him to an iron chair, not allowing him to go to the restroom, or any water to drink throughout the night. They used clothes to smother him. After they forced him to talk, they grabbed his hand and forcibly thumb-printed it on a document they made up, which he was not allowed to read.

In spite of their effort since February this year, the police have failed to obtain sufficient "evidence." Zhao has been detained all this time. To gather more "evidence" so that they could convict Zhao, the police arrested his son and brought him to the police station again not too long ago. They forced him to admit to the authenticity of the content of the document he thumb-printed, further traumatizing him both physically and psychologically.

Zhao's parents are both over seventy years old. During this nine month long ordeal, his father suffered a heart attack. He was saved only after four hours of resuscitation in the hospital. His mother had to take care of her sick husband, and also worry about her jailed son.

The brutal torture was to extract sufficient evidence to enable them to stage an open trial on TV of Zhao, his brothers, and sisters -- five in all. They want to smear Falun Dafa and Dafa practitioners, to further damage Dafa.

We urge all good people and peace loving organizations in the world to pay attention to the plight of the Chinese practitioners who are being persecuted because of their belief in "Truthfulness, Benevolence, and Forbearance."
