Policemen in Baochang City Violently Abduct a Small and Weak Female Practitioner

The outbreak of the SARS epidemic in late April 2003 made everyone panic. There were few people working on the street in Baochang City (Inner Mongolia), and almost all the shops were closed for business.

Around 4 or 5 o'clock in the afternoon one day in April, when I walked by the Grain Bureau Building, a scene unfolding in front of a clothing store caused me to stop. I saw four or five men gathered around a woman; one man grabbed her with one hand and threw her down from the top of a flight of stairs. Such ruthless and violent behaviour dumfounded me. Upon taking a closer look, I found that the man was policeman Zhao Baoming, out of uniform, followed closely by two more plain-clothed policemen. The three of them dragged that woman into a van. Evidently, she didn't want to go willingly. She struggled hard, all the while shouting, "I practise Falun Gong. I am a good person. This is persecution!" All of a sudden, many people surrounded them, and all the passersby stopped to watch.

The plain-clothed policemen, under the leadership of Zhao Baoming, were a little flustered. Then more of them from their group got concerned and joined in to help. All of a sudden, they forcefully stuffed the woman into the vehicle. While struggling, she kept shouting, "I am a good person. I practise Falun Gong. Let me go!" The van was driven away swiftly. A voice from inside the vehicle continued to be heard: "Falun Dafa is great!" All the bystanders were shaken by the event.

After a while, the people all started to talk at once, and I found out what had happened. The woman I just mentioned was a Falun Gong practitioner. She always had a good manner, was friendly and ready to help others all the time. On that day, as she was reading a book in the shop, Hu Xiaodong, a policeman from the Xinhua Police Station in Baochang City, intruded and asked her to hand over the book. Hu also made a call to summon Zhao Baoming, Cao Yi and others from the State Security Team to come over. They started searching everywhere in the shop, then abducted this practitioner in the brutal manner just described.

All the people in the vicinity witnessed that the police treated this small, lone woman as if she were a murderer. The three men had used their knees and arms to brutally press her under a car seat.

Why, in broad daylight, did the police arrest a person while out of uniform, without driving a police car, or even showing their identification? Why do the people who practise "Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance" get treated like this? What is wrong with this world?
