Ms. Liang Changying, 34, is a teacher at Baise City Party School in Guangxi Province. She lives in Baise City. On Feb. 28, 2000, people from the Guangxi education-through-labour committee sentenced her to 1-1/2 years of forced labour. She was released earlier on March 5, 2001 but police officers from her hometown detained her again on July 18, 2002, and later arrested her on September 5, 2002.

On July 25, 2003, Ms. Liang Changying was sentenced to five and a half years of prison. This decision was reached by Youjiang District People's Court at Baise City. Her sentence is to run from July 18, 2002 to January 17, 2008. The reason for her imprisonment was an article she had written entitled "The persecution of Dafa practitioners at Guangxi First Labour Camp and Guangxi Women's Labour Camp" that was published on Minghui Net [Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net]. She also provided and distributed DVDs containing accounts of the persecution against Dafa and the practitioners.

Ms. Liang Changying's mother, Wei Xinlian, is 59 years old and is retired from the People's Hospital in Baise City. The police and court authorities sentenced her to two years of imprisonment based on claims of "providing material from Minghui Net" to practitioners.

Mr. Wei Binlian, 41-year-old, is an officer at the Price Control Bureau in Baise City. He lives in a dormitory of the Baise Environmental Protection Bureau. Due to suspicions against him for having accessed the Internet, people from his work unit and police worked together to arrest him in 2002. On Aug. 16, 2002, Baise City Court sentenced him on October 16, 2002 to 1-1/2 years of imprisonment for "illegally obtaining national secrets." On July 25, 2003, he was sentenced to yet another prison term, this time for 4-1/2 years. The proceedings were held in Youjiang District People's Court of in Baise City, making this a total incarceration period of six years! The sentence was commuted for 5-1/2 years. The charge against him was submitting the following two articles to Minghui Net: "The persecution of Dafa practitioners at Guangxi First Labour Camp and Guangxi Women's Labour Camp" and "The Persecution of Dafa Practitioners by Officers from Liuzhou Railroad Bureau in Guangxi."

Mr. Fang Guokun, 30 years old, used to work for the railroad in Baise City. He was arrested and sentenced. The police and court based their actions on the claim that he had accessed the Internet and published his article entitled "The Persecution of Dafa Practitioners by Officers from Liuzhou Railroad Bureau in Guangxi."

Ms. Yang Ruizhen, in her 60's, was arrested during the summer of 2003 for distributing truth-clarification material and was detained at the Tianyang Detention Centre in Baise City. Prisoners in the same cell beat her three times. In spite of the fact she is a senior citizen and physically weak, the police still refused to release her.
