Additional Information About the Torture Death of Dafa Practitioner Lai Zhijun

By Dafa practitioner of Guangzhou City

Dafa practitioner Lai Zhijun was tortured to death in March or April of 2000 at Sanshui Labour Camp. Township Vice Mayor and Vice Director of the People's Congress at Fenggang Town, Dongguan City, he was honoured as an excellent state official. In his 30's, he had been practicing Falun Dafa since Chinese New Year of 1999, and actively promoted the Fa locally. After Jiang's group started persecuting Falun Dafa on July 20, 1999, he went to Beijing to appeal in December 1999.

He practiced the exercises at Tiananmen Square, and was beaten by the police. Then he was sent back to Dongguan City and imprisoned at a township detention center. The details of the treatment he suffered at the detention centre are not known.

The officials at Dongguan City thought he had embarrassed the Dongguan City Government, since he was the only official to appeal in Beijing, so they refused to release him from imprisonment. After 3 to 4 months imprisonment at the detention centre he was sent to Sanshui Labor Camp. On the third day after his arrival he started a hunger strike to resist the persecution, and a few days later he was tortured to death. When his family received the notice and arrived there, he was already dead.

The time of his death was March or April of 2000. We tried to call his family several times but nobody answered the phone. Because the situation at the time was so difficult, we were unable to learn more details. He was the only practitioner we knew in the region. Before long, we also were kidnapped and taken to a labour camp. We hope that people who know of his suffering after the arrest and his tragic death by torture will step forward to reveal the whole truth to the world.
