The Party Secretary Zhang Guorong often harassed practitioner Fu Chunlong, who has refused to give up practicing "Truthfulness, Benevolence, Forbearance." Zhang has fined him many times since July 1999. When Fu Chunlong was arrested for practicing Falun Gong at Zhao Yayun's home, policemen went to his home on several occasions and stayed there waiting to see if other practitioners would contact him.

Female practitioner Guan Xiufen was arrested because the police found two Falun Gong books at her home. They extorted 1500 Yuan from her before releasing her. (Note: Yuan is Chinese currency. The average monthly income of an urban worker is 500 Yuan.)

Female practitioner Wu Xiuhua was arrested because the police found the book Zhuan Falun at her home. They demanded 1000 Yuan from her before releasing her.

Female practitioner Yin Yumei steadfastly refused to give up her belief in Falun Dafa. County Party Secretary Zhang Guorong and Vice Secretary Wan Guolan (who has since been transferred to another position) have tried many different ways to force her to give up practicing. Because her daughter went to appeal for Falun Gong in Beijing, they suspended her and her husband from work at a local school. They were required to report to the school everyday without pay. During the Chinese New Year period, Yin Yumei, Guo Xianmin, Zhao Yafen, Wang Xiumei, Na Yafen, all steadfast female practitioners, were held in an office of the party committee of the village in the name of attending a brainwashing class. They slept on tables and chairs. Everyday, the militia on guard cursed and insulted them. They were held without any personal freedom for a month.

Practitioner Fu Wenpei and Yin Chengfang were suspended from work for over two months for refusing to give up practicing. They went to appeal in Beijing and were detained for two months. The local police extorted 2500 Yuan from them to pay for the trip of the policemen who went to Beijing to take them back. After being released, they were held in the classroom of the middle school where they work and had their salaries suspended. Teachers at the school were assigned to watch them in turn.

Female practitioner Hong Shuqing was detained for over two months for appealing in Beijing. After she was released from the detention center, she was held at the party committee meeting location of the village. The local police have visited her home many times to apply pressure. They confiscated her Falun Gong exercise tapes and extorted 1000 Yuan from her.

Female practitioner Guo Yan was held in the detention center in Shuangcheng City and tortured for a whole night in 1999 for her pursuit of freedom of belief. They fined her 3000 Yuan before releasing her.

Female practitioner Guo Xianmin was turned in, arrested, and fined 800 Yuan by the local police station.

Guo Lihua was fined 500 Yuan when the police found at her home with the Falun Gong book Essentials for Further Advancement.

Liu Lichun was fined 7000 Yuan for appealing in Beijing in October 1999. He went to appeal again and has been held in a labor camp in Beijing since then.

Female practitioner Ma Xinying was sentenced to one year in labor camp in 2000 for appealing in Beijing.

Female practitioner Wang Shurong was fined 2000 Yuan for appealing in Beijing. She went to Beijing again, and the local officials took away the farmland she leased. They sentenced her to one year in labor camp.

Female practitioner Wang Xiumei was discovered reading the Falun Gong books. The village officials took her by force to the office. Her husband beat her up and burned her books.

Female practitioner Na Yafang was held in the detention center in Shuangcheng City for half a month for appealing in Beijing. They fined her 3000 Yuan and took away the farmland she leased. During the Chinese New Year period, they held her at the village office, even though she was five months pregnant.

Wang Xin was held in the No. 2 Detention Center of Shuangcheng City for 11 days for appealing in Beijing. Afterwards, he was held in the local police station for 4 days, only released after he went on a hunger strike. Because of his trip to Beijing, his parents were suspended from work. The village officials demanded 1000 Yuan to cover the cost of their trip.
