On December 1, 2000, Deputy Warden Yao Chuang took us to his office, where fully charged electric batons were waiting for us. Policeman Liu Guohua led a group of policemen carrying electric batons and recorders into the west side of the suite, while on the east side, there were more than 20 Falun Gong practitioners who had been tortured and shocked with electric batons for several days. Practitioners with their hands cuffed behind their backs, were shocked with electric batons, slapped in the face with the bottoms of shoes, and whipped by belts. Chen Dewen and I were in the same room. One policeman shocked Chen Dewen. Zhang Guosheng shocked me on the neck, head, shoulder and back with two electric batons while policeman Li Jian slapped my face with the bottom of a shoe, and Zhang Guozhu also shocked me on my neck with two electric batons. We were later dragged to a large room, and I was tortured so severely that I couldn't move my right shoulder or right chest; my chest was so painful that I could only breathe lightly; my neck could move forward only, not backward; my left ear was left with a hole due to electric shock; and my ear, neck and mouth were dripping yellowish fluid. Zhao Lianxin's head looked like a watermelon due to the severe torture; his eyes were swollen to a thin line and filled with blood, and his lips beaten into four pieces, sticking outward and bleeding. The electric shock wounds on his body were dripping yellow fluid, and his face was unrecognizable. Li Xuemin, He Fenghua, Chen Dewen, and Liu Quanwang were all likewise tortured cruelly; they had swollen heads, with their necks, ears, and mouths dripping yellow mucus. The policemen who participated in the persecution were Deputy Warden Yao Chuang, and policemen Liu Guohua, Zhang Guosheng, Zhang Guozhu, Wang Shengli, Guo Aimin, Li Jian, Liu Haihou, Ding Xuewen, Fan, and Li.

Around 2:00 p.m. every day over the next few days, we were dragged into different rooms to be shocked with electric batons, with a minimum of two batons and a maximum of six. They stopped shocking us after four days, although He Fenghua suffered for five days. We were cuffed in pairs so that we couldn't move around, and were allowed to sleep only after midnight.

Chen Dewen, He Fenghua, and Zhao Lianxin refused to wear the sign issued by the forced labour camp, and a few policemen fiercely kicked them in the back. They dragged He Fenghua into another room and shocked him with electric batons until he passed out. They abused us for 12 days, and the policemen involved in this were Wang Shengli, Zhang Guosheng, Guo Aimin, and Ding Wenxue.

There were a number of unwavering Dafa practitioners detained on the first floor of the forced labour camp. For about a month, they studied the teachings of Falun Dafa, and practised the exercises, although there were always various forms of interference. On the evening of November 27, 2001, over a dozen practitioners were studying together. The criminal section head Guo Chunjiang asked criminal Ye Qingbin to turn on the radio and turn the volume of the TV to the maximum to interfere with practitioners. The police put us into two rooms, with five in room No. 1 and five in room No. 3. But we continued to study. The next day, about 20 Dafa practitioners began a hunger strike to protest the persecution. The forced labour camp authorities increased the number of policemen on duty. On the evening of November 30, room No. 3's Fa study and practice were interfered with by police and criminals, and Huludao City's riot police were sent in. A number of Dafa practitioners were taken away by the riot police (about eight were taken away, including Yang Jiangwei, Ren Xiaobei, and Yu Chengwen. A few fellow practitioners were sentenced to prison.) We were again handcuffed behind the back, and tortured and shocked brutally. I was taken to the office by police and lost consciousness after Zhang Guosheng pushed me to the ground. I was sent back to the cell after receiving six stitches in my head. I lay in the bed with hands cuffed to the sides of the bed, watched by criminals. Besides riot police, the following people were involved in the persecution: Zhang Guosheng, Xie Bo, Wang Shengli, Song Zhongtian, Wang Dazhu (the prison doctor), Ding Wenxue, and others, plus more than 10 people from other divisions. There were also more than 20 criminals involved, including Guo Chunjiang, Ye Qingbin, and Qian Lizhong.

After December 2, 2001, I was force fed by police. Guo Chunjiang pried open my mouth with bamboo chopsticks, and Ye Qingbin and Qian Lizhong pinched my nose and force fed me five times. On the morning of December 3, political warden Meng asked Guo Chunjiang to pry open my mouth, Qian Lizhong to pinch my nose, Ye Qingbin to feed me, and a few more to hold down my legs. Seeing that it was hard to feed me, Meng asked two criminals to take me to the third floor and put me into a bed with my hands cuffed to the bed. Prison doctor Wang Dazhu inserted a tube through my nose, into my stomach, and criminals Li Xiaolin and others administered food with injectors. Around December 7 and 8, at the direction of Wang Dazhu, criminal Chen Wenbin cuffed my left hand to the bed, and raised my head and shoulder with a bed board. My shoulder and arm were bent backward, and my left arm was numb. They began to inject alcohol into our stomachs about 10 days later and said, "You Falun Dafa practitioners are afraid of alcohol. We'll inject alcohol into your body and we will see how you can practise." They injected beer the first time and hard liquor the second. There were about 10 people at the scene, including Wang Dazhu (prison doctor), Li Xiaolin, Lu Dawei (Dafa practitioner who was on hunger strike), and Guo Junwei (Dafa practitioner). They injected hard liquor again the third time, and it caused an allergic reaction in my body. I had small red spots on my body that were intolerably itchy, and I had difficulty breathing. It was especially painful when I was cuffed to the bed. I still had spots on my body that were itchy after 40-50 days. I was on a hunger strike for 30 days, from November 28 to December 28. They released me, saying that I was sick.

My eyes couldn't see clearly after the persecution, but were better four days after I came home. Because of the handcuffing, my left shoulder and arm could not move freely even after 50 days. I had lower back pain, could not move freely, and couldn't carry any weight. The recent torture and abuse really damaged my lower back. I also had stomach pain and insomnia.

This is my experience in the forced labour camp. The police trampled laws openly, deprived my freedom, damaged my health, and broke apart my family. My father's eye disease got worse after the stress placed upon him because of my situation, and he now needs an operation.

Author's notes: Mr. Zhang Xuan, 45, Nanpiao Mine Bureau Design Institute Associate Forecasting Engineer.

On December 28, 2001, Zhang Xuan worked for a while after coming back home. He was forced to leave home due to police harassment. He was abducted in Jinzhou City in December 2002, and has been detained in Jinzhou City Forced Labour Camp since then.
