Mr Luo Dazhao, the former vice-chairman for the Anshun Section Highway Bureau, was repeatedly persecuted for his steadfast belief in Falun Gong. He died suddenly in mid-October after learning that his wife, Zhen Lili, was sentenced to three years detainment in a forced labour camp.

Mr. Luo Dazhao was 61 years old when he died. When Jiang Zemin's gang began the persecution of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, Mr. Luo was punished by being demoted and taking a salary cut. He was frequently forced to join brainwashing classes.

In September of 2002, in order to escape from the continuous harassment and persecution, Mr. Dazhao together with his wife Zhen Lili moved back to his daughter's house who was also a Falun Dafa practitioner. In the beginning of October, police officers from Anshun followed them for a thousand Li [Chinese measure of distance, a little less than one kilometre] and took the couple back to Anshun City. In mid October, after learning that his wife Zhen Lili was sentenced to three years in a forced labour camp, with immense grief and indignation in his heart, Mr. Luo Dazhao abruptly passed away at home. Due to the pressure from Jiang Zemin's regime, his daughter was afraid to reveal the facts about his death.
