Division Manager Zhang Quan of the Dagushan Mine Persecuted to the Point of Mental Collapse

Zhang Quan, a division manager of the Dagushan mine in Anshan city, Liaoning Province was illegally sentenced to forced labour camp for his practise of Falun Gong. During his detention at the Anshan Forced Labour Camp, under the direction of the Party Commission Chief Zhang Zhenyang, the police and criminals cruely tortured him. They used sleep deprivation and relentless false propaganda to attempt to brainwash him. Zhang Quan suffered a great deal both physically and mentally, leading to his suffering a mental collapse. He lost his desire to eat or drink, had blood in his urine for more than a month, and his health deteriorated rapidly.

In spite of Mr. Zhang's condition, the police refused to release him until his full term had been served. Even after his release, the police continued to harass him at home.

"610 Office" Sends Dafa Practitioner Liu Zhaohong to a Brainwashing Centre in Jiaozhou, Shandong Province

Falun Dafa practitioner Liu Zhaohong was an employee in the Irrigation Department of Jiaozhou City, Shandong Province. After the local "610 Office" [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems] abducted him on May 12, 2003, they brutally beat and tortured him for refusing to renounce his practise of "Truth, Compassion, Tolerance." In order to appeal for his release, Liu has been on a hunger striker for more than 30 days. He is currently in a life-threatening situation! His physical health is so poor that neither the labour camp nor the detention centre would accept him. However, not only did the "610 Office" refuse to release him, but they also wouldn't allow his family members to visit him. The "610 Office" recently sent Liu to the Zhangjiatun Brainwashing Centre for another round of persecution.

Ms. Qu Cailing and Other Dafa Practitioners' Lives are in Danger at the No. 2 Detention Centre in Fushun City

The No. 2 Detention Centre of Fushun City, Liaoning Province illegally holds over thirty female Dafa practitioners. Some of them have severe injuries and illnesses because of the intense persecution, and their lives are in peril due to the lack of healthcare.

Ms. Qu Cailing, 52, has developed acute hypertension, heart disease, dizziness, and numbness because of the persecution. Currently she has been detained for almost a year. With her life in danger, she received no treatment, and was even unlawfully sentenced to nine years in prison. In early July of 2003, she was sent to Dabei prison in Shenyang City. The prison refused her and she was sent back to the detention centre. According to the prison guidelines, anyone not admitted to prison due to severe health conditions should be sent to a hospital for further evaluation. If she doesn't meet the physical conditions to serve her sentence, she should seek further medical advice. But the detention centre not only abandoned that rule, but is also attempting to use its internal connections to once again dispatch Ms. Qu to Daibei prison.

Ms. Xing Yurong, 40, has been detained for nearly a year. She has developed a severe chest inflammation that hinders her breathing. Presently, her life is in jeopardy. After she was illegally sentenced, she was sent to Dabei prison in Shenyang City. Due to her poor health, she was refused by Dabei prison. Fushun's No. 2 Detention Centre neither sent her for treatment nor for further evaluation by the hospital. As a result, her health was deteriorating daily. Eventually, under pressure from different sources, the detention centre finally allowed Ms. Xing to be medically evaluated.
