In the year 2000 Chinese Dictator Jiang Zemin was labelled a “human rights scoundrel” by the American branch of Amnesty international. This year the American branch of Amnesty International is supporting the suing of Jiang Zemin for genocide in the US courts. The following is an account of why Jiang Zemin is being sued for genocide and why he was labelled a ‘human rights scoundrel’.

Jiang Zemin came in to power due to his position in supporting the 1989 student massacre where it is rumoured 1000’s of innocent students died due to the government’s use of the military to disperse the peaceful democracy rally. From the start of his tenure as dictator of China he has had the blood of innocent Chinese people on his hands.
In contrast, in 1992 Falun Gong was released to the public, the founder of the practice Li Hongzhi was from a modest background and came from northern China. In the two years following its release, Teacher Li travelled to every corner of China and gave a total of 52 9-day seminars. Falun Gong is powerful at improving health and character; it is free of charge and easy to learn, for these reasons it spread rapidly around China and it gained the deep respect of the Chinese people.

On the other hand Jiang Zemin came to power by suppressing the people. He could not tolerate the respect and vast following Falun Gong had amassed among the Chinese people and as early as 1996, Jiang Zemin started to interfere with the practice by banning the books from being sold in China, a best seller at the time.

In these years the practice continued to grow and it is estimated that in 1999 there were as many as 100 million Falun Gong practitioners in China.

It is also known that many of the top Chinese government officials were reading the books also. Before 1999 the premier of China Zhu Rongji stated publicly that he would try to resolve the problems and interference that Falun Gong practitioners were having at their practice sites, something he was later reprimanded for.

However, on July 20 1999, with no proof and no justification, Chinese Dictator Jiang Zemin, driven by his jealousy and personal desires issued an order to ban the practice of Falun Gong. He was aware from the start that Falun Gong practitioners had done nothing wrong so immediately he started a wave of propaganda, run through the media, slandering the practice, saying its practitioners were guilty of one crime after the next. This was in effect framing the practice for the onslaught of persecution that would ruin the lives of more than 100 million innocent people.

The individual human rights crimes that are encouraged during this campaign of persecution are too many to list, the following 10 crimes are directly attributable to the “human rights scoundrel” Jiang Zemin:

· Capitalising on the Tiananmen Square massacre of 1989 to seize the position of president.
· Deceiving the world by covering up the SARS outbreak, causing extensive loss of life to people in China and around the world.
· Instigating the shameful and illegal persecution and imprisonment of millions of Falun Gong practitioners.
· Establishing the illegal “610” office, a bureau with supreme authority over all levels of the Chinese government, specifically to persecute Falun Gong.
· Exhausting 25% of Chinas financial resources to “eradicate” Falun Gong practitioners.
· Spreading hate-propaganda through the Chinese state controlled media.
· Illegally imprisoning foreign citizens, such as U.S Citizen, Charles Li M.D.
· Building brainwashing centres and misusing psychiatric medication to break the will of Falun Gong practitioners.
·Using tactics such as diplomatic pressure, political incentives and trade agreements to buy the silence of foreign governments.
· Conspiring to commit civil rights violations in free countries outside of China.

These crimes are directly attributable to Jiang and he should be held responsible. Currently he is on trial in America for Genocide and we encourage each individual to judge, who is Jiang Zemin.

Thank you.
