Sweden: People in the City of Malmo Sign a Petition to Oppose Article 23

On the afternoon of June 28 2003, Dafa practitioners in Malmo gathered in Gustav Square to collect signatures opposing the legislation of Article 23 in Hong Kong.

Practitioners displayed photo boards and a banner reading, “Oppose Article 23, Return Power to the People”. They told passers-by about the persecutory nature of Article 23 in detail. Once Article 23 is enacted, people in Hong Kong will lose their freedom and liberty and Hong Kong will be less prosperous. Many Swedish people signed the petition the moment they heard the truth.

One person said, after looking at the photos, “The Chinese government is going overboard. What is wrong with practising Qigong? Indeed, if Article 23 is enacted in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong people will get the same treatment as the Falun Gong practitioners [in China].” Upon hearing this, many people signed the petition immediately.

People all know the meaning and importance of liberty. They think that the brutality and cruelty of Jiang’s regime is unreasonable and incredible. Groups of people came to Gustav Square to enjoy the sunshine. This gave us a great opportunity to collect many signatures opposing the enactment of Article 23 in Hong Kong.
