Recently people from all circles in Australia held lively discussions on the topic of the lawsuit against Jiang. On the evening of June 10, 2003, a seminar on the topic of "An End to Genocide in the 21st Century" held at the State Library of New South Wales in Sydney was one of these discussions.

The seminar was jointly sponsored by the "World Organisation to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong" (WOIPFG), the "Global Mission to Rescue Falun Gong Family Members" campaign and the Falun Dafa Association in Sydney. Nearly 50 distinguished guests were present at the seminar.

Mr. Yao Qiwen, spokesperson for the "World Organisation to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong", expressed that the latest research revealed that Jiang mobilised the country's economic resources and propaganda machinery to carry on an unprecedented persecution against Falun Gong. Mr. Yao pointed out, "At present in China, one quarter of China's economic resources has been used to persecute Falun Gong. This directly brings about heavy pressure and severe consequences to the Chinese people and the nation's economy." Mr. Yao also pointed out that independent investigation of the staged "self-immolation in Tiananmen Square" confirmed that the Chinese government orchestrated it to incite hatred toward Falun Gong.

Lecturer Mr. Grant Niemann from Department of Law at Flinders University thoroughly compared the crimes of genocide committed in World War II, in Cambodia, in the former Yugoslavia and in Rwanda with the various forms of persecution against Falun Gong perpetrated by former Chinese president Jiang Zemin. Mr. Niemann also made a further analysis and discussion on the feasibility and possible outcomes of legal action taken as a step to end genocide. He pointed out that "genocide" endangers the personal interests and human rights of the world's people, and it is not only an issue for a certain country. When more and more people become aware of this point and people's calls become louder and louder, the calls would form an irresistible international pressure. People everywhere would recognise Jiang's crimes against humanity, and global trial against Jiang would ultimately come to fruition.

In addition, spokesperson of Falun Dafa Association in Sydney Mr. John Deller and spokesperson Ms. Wang Juan of the "Global Mission to Rescue Falun Gong Family Members" campaign made speeches respectively.

During the seminar, the audience raised many questions and discussed ways to end the crime of genocide in China.

The lawsuit against Jiang has become a popular topic in the Australian community, and the public is eager to see what will be the result of the litigation against Jiang.
