An Account of How The Persecution Has Devastated Family and Village Life

I am a Falun Dafa practitioner from Sichuan Province and I began practising in June 1998. Because I clarified the truth about Falun Gong after the persecution began, the county police came to my home to intimidate me. Because I refused to cooperate with them, they threatened to deduct my son' salary and fire him from his workplace. They also threatened to deduct the salaries of all the teachers in my school as well as my relatives.

Because of this incident, my family members began to oppose my practising Falun Dafa. Although they knew that my health improved because of the practice and I persistently clarified the truth to them, they refused to listen to me and even became violent. They slapped me, threw me against the wall, and even attempted to throw me down the stairs. My neighbour witnessed this violence and said, "Isn' Falun Gong really good? Her two sons and husband beat her up like that, but she does not fight back at all."

I still persisted in my belief. The police then asked my friends and relatives to persuade me to stop practising, and tried to entice me with money. However, nobody could shake my determination to cultivate Falun Dafa.

Later on, somebody informed me that the people in the county wanted to take me away, so I left home that night. I walked about 70-80 miles and arrived at a mountain. I slept by the road during the night, and I found a cave to stay in and ate fruit that I had found growing on the mountain. Later I found a temple and settled down there. Everyday I got up at 5 am to cook and clean. I was also in charge of gathering the firewood.

My family searched for me everywhere. The officials in my county and town "610 Office" [The 610 Office is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political or judicial systems.] and the police got scared. They paid people in the county to find me. The village was turned upside down. People came to my house day and night. Some people even went to other places like Beijing to search for me. After more than ten days, they found me in the mountain and took me back to the town, where I was detained for a week. When I was released, there were still other practitioners being detained there.

The police substation ransacked my home without any legal procedure. Even now they are still watching me. They also deducted 4,000 Yuan [Yuan is the Chinese currency. The average monthly salary of an urban worker in China is 500 Yuan.] from my son' salary. My relatives tried to avoid me because they did not want to be implicated. It felt like the depths of the Cultural Revolution, when family members turned on each other when faced with terror and extreme pressure. This is what the Jiang regime' persecution has brought upon us.
