Israel: A Great Day Introducing Falun Dafa at a School

One of the Israeli practitioners is a schoolteacher. On one occasion, she taught her colleagues the Falun Dafa exercises. They were so pleased that they invited several local practitioners to teach the exercises to students at an elementary school, and also show them how to make beautiful paper lotus flowers.

When we first arrived, there were 5 classes of children together in a large gym. The noise was terrible! The children took every opportunity to shout and fight with each other. We heard the teachers saying that it would be impossible for us to handle that situation.

One practitioner stood on a bench with a tape recorder playing music written by Dafa practitioners, but it was too small and nobody could hear it above the noise! A few practitioners went to sit at the front in the meditation position, while the practitioner with the tape recorder started to walk among the noisy children. Everyone who heard the Falun Dafa music became silent and focused on the practitioners. Within seconds, the room was in complete silence. The practitioner on the bench started to demonstrate the exercises, and almost all the students did the same. Later on, one of the teachers told us that she could not believe that we got them to be so calm.

Next, we went into the classrooms to make paper lotuses. The atmosphere was so nice and the children were so relaxed that hardly anyone spoke. Everything went smoothly. Quicker students helped the ones who work slower. We finished by talking briefly about the principles of Falun Dafa - Truth, Compassion, Forbearance. The teacher was very pleased. We went to this school several times, so that every class got to take part in the activities.

One of the classes was for students who were slow learners. We started by teaching them to make paper lotuses. They found it quite difficult to concentrate on folding the paper correctly and they started cursing and hurting each other. I then remembered to play the Dafa music, and the noise immediately ceased. One of them even turned the music up, saying that they found it very nice. I explained briefly how about how to practise the exercises, and told them that it required endurance and tolerance. I started to do the exercises with my eyes closed. When I opened them a little later, I was surprised to see that everyone was practising, including the teacher! I felt very tranquil when I showed them the sitting meditation exercise. When I opened my eyes I told them quietly: “when you hurt someone, something bad comes to you and brings you trouble.” One of the children said: “I knew that before.” There was a silence in the room for some time, and nobody thought of cursing or hurting anyone.

One of the boys was very slow at making his lotus flower, but he worked on it with a lot of care and patience. When he finished, his lotus was absolutely perfect. One of the practitioners said that she was not surprised that he was the only one in class who could sit in the full lotus position [a meditation position with legs crossed over one another]. She noticed how he strived to regain concentration every time he was disturbed during the meditation.

All the classes went very well, and as a result we were invited to teach the exercises to the students’ parents one afternoon. We gave them all a flyer about the persecution in China and they asked many questions. This made explaining the facts really easy for us. This workshop was also very successful, and we received a lot of praise from the parents and the school principal.
