WHAT EXACTLY IS THE "610 OFFICE?"

The "610 Office," as its name suggests, was set up on June 10, 1999. It is a standing member of the Political and Judiciary Committee that reports to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Central Committee. Headed by Luo Gan, the Secretary General of the Political and Judiciary Committee of the CCP, it is the highest authority deployed by PRC President Jiang Zemin and his accomplices to persecute Falun Gong. The "610 Office" specialises in political persecution and is particularly deadly because it has been given the authority to override any law. It is very similar in nature to a product of the Cultural Revolution -- the ubiquitous "Cultural Revolution Leading Committee" of the CCP Central Committee - which also derived its authority directly from the nation's top leader and chief architect of the Cultural Revolution, Chairman Mao. All provinces, cities, autonomous regions, and municipalities have a local "610 Office" that reports to the local CCP Political and Judiciary Committee. Thus, the "610 Office" is a well-oiled, independent system spanning from the central government down to the local governments. It has absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches.
