Mr. Hu Xuanju, a 60 year old man was arrested by police in Yuping Township because he did not give up his belief in Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance, the principles of Falun Dafa. Police agents Chen Qishou and Yu Wuodong handcuffed Mr. Hu to a tree and stripped off his clothing down to his shorts in freezing weather. They brutally tortured Mr. Hu to force him to give up practising Falun Dafa. He refused and protested, angering the persecutors. Yu Wuodong, in an wicked frenzy repeatedly struck Mr. Hu's head causing him to lose his eyesight. Afterwards, they removed all valuables from Mr. Hu's home. As a result of the brutal persecution, Hu Xuanju is now blind and deaf.

Because he went to Beijing to appeal to the central government, a dozen local police under the direction of Li Qiugui and Dai Wenming broke into Mr. Zou's home and tore up his house. Other villagers tried to persuade the police against this action; however, the agents continued and even threatened the villagers. In addition, the police extorted 1500 yuan from Zou Peisong's daughter-in-law. After many arrests, beatings and fines, Mr. Zou was illegally detained in a forced labour camp.

Mr. Wu and nine other practitioners were severely beaten by Township Secretary Weng Fangping and a dozen guards under Weng's direction. One officer almost suffocated practitioner Wu Jinkui. Wu Yinkui and practitioner Hu Weirong were thrown in a small cell without food and drink for four consecutive days and three nights. In January of 2001, agents Dai Wenming and Li Qiugui, leading a dozen guards, broke into Mr. Wu's home and tore down his house. Mr Li Zhibang: in his 60s, from Huangguan Village of Yuping Township. Mr. Li disappeared suddenly on December 31, 2000. On February 1, 2001, the Dai Wenming from the "610 Office" [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems] of the Township, with a dozen police, broke into practitioner Zhang Wenghua's home on the alleged grounds that Zhang had given money to Li Zhibang for his trip to Beijing to appeal.
