Dear Prime Minister Chretien:

I believe that, as Prime Minister of our country, you should take action to call for the international scrutiny and condemnation of China for its extensive human rights violations, including severe persecution of Falun Gong members and abuse of Tibetan nationals.

Many international organizations, such as Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, etc. have documented mass arbitrary detentions, unfair trials, and other gross human rights violations of Falun Gong members, Tibetans, and others. This is completely contrary to what the Chinese government says with respect to human rights. Obviously they are not living up to their public commitments, and the international community must make the statement.

Therefore I am asking you to call for the international scrutiny and condemnation of China for their brutalization of the basic human rights of their citizens.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. Please respond to my constituency office. Yours sincerely,

Dr. Keith Martin, MP

Esquimalt-Juan de Fuca
