The Man in front of the German Federal Parliament

On March 31, 2003, we launched a week-long appeal, urgently calling on the German Parliament to put forward a resolution condemning China for its genocidal campaign against Falun Gong practitioners. In addition, we were urgently requesting the German government to uphold justice and to help rescue the persecuted relatives and friends of six Falun Gong practitioners in Germany.

From Monday to Friday, we appealed outside the German Federal Parliament. One day something unexpected happened; a man would not allow us to hang the banners in the area where he wanted carry out another appeal. He has been carrying out an appeal during the whole winter for those victims persecuted to death in the time of the dictatorship in East Germany.

Wherever there is a problem - that is where we need to clarify the facts. So I told him, “The regime in China has already killed over 1,000 innocent people. And now there are Falun Gong practitioners being persecuted to death every day.” He retorted, “Your banners and photo displays to call for rescue are sponsored by someone.” I informed him, “I used my own money for them. The so-called ‘financial support’ or ‘accumulating wealth’ are propaganda and slander by the Jiang regime. You were opposed to the old Eastern German regime; how come you do not understand the tyranny and totalitarianism of the communist party? I admire your courage to appeal here alone. Why can’t you be a little more considerate? You are a male, a local in Berlin, while I am a female from a city in Southern Germany, six hours’ drive away from Berlin. There is nothing to argue about. You see this is the permission guaranteed by the police and where you are, I am permitted to be, too.”

The man became speechless, turning to me and asking, “Where did you get the money for these activities?”

I answered, “My husband gives me 200 Euros every month. I used the printing machine of one practitioner to print these display photos, each of which cost me 15 Euros. In total 12 of them cost me 190 dollars. If I want to print more, I have to wait until next month. Last week I went to Geneva to appeal for Falun Gong and I could not afford to stay at even the cheapest hotel. So I drove there for over ten hours and stayed in my car at night. I brought my sleeping bag with me.” He raised another question, “Where did you get the money for fuel?” I replied that I used the pocket money my husband gave me. Then I asked him how he got money to print his materials. He said, “I used my own money to print them.”

I continued, “Then you should not have treated me in that way. Don’t trust the propaganda and rumors of the communist party. I also used my own money to print the fliers. Or sometimes the fliers were already printed by other practitioners, and I just bought some to hand out to people.”

Then I asked him “Can I ask you again? ... If you agree not to yell at me, I will start to hang the banners!” He gave me an embarrassed smile. Afterward, we became friends.

I once asked him if he still believed in Marx. He replied, “No, but Stalin was even worse than Marx.” I told him, “Marx advocated violence; didn’t Stalin also inherit his theory form Marx? The regime in China is also nourished by the same theory and advocates violence and slander.” The man just laughed without saying anything. Then he was curious about my Falun emblem. I explained, “The German ancestors had used the same emblem about 7 B.C. and the emblem could be seen everywhere in India and in the unearthed cultural relics in Greece. Hitler just appropriated the srivatsa.” His friend beside him agreed, “I knew that. I already knew that.”

As long as we maintain righteous thoughts, our truth-clarification now will bring overwhelming influence on the public. It seems that the sentient beings are waiting to give you a test and then to stand by you to uphold “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.” This is a sign of the cosmic climate.
