Older Falun Gong Practitioner Dies 4 Months after Release from Prison

Mr. Yun Zhengqun died four months after his release from years of imprisonment for his belief in Falun Gong, a spiritual practice being persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party.

The 64-year-old man from Benxi City, Liaoning Province was arrested on April 12th, 2007 after a group of police officers broke into his house in the middle of the night. He was later sentenced to seven and a half years.

Mr. Yun was brutally tortured while serving his time at Dongling Prison in the city of Shenyang. When he was released on October 12th last year, he still had three egg-sized bumps on each heel. He didn't fare any better upon returning home. He couldn't keep anything down and would throw up whatever he ate. He also had bloody stool.

He was soon diagnosed with liver cancer, but had to check out of the hospital on the tenth day because he couldn't afford the medical expenses.

Mr. Yun passed away on February 13th, just two weeks after his birthday.
