Ms. Cui Zhanyun (崔占云) died on November 3rd, 2014, less than two months after being released from a brainwashing centre. She was 69 years old.

Ms. Cui was taken to a hospital on the morning on September 16th, 2014, one day after being transferred to the Changchun Brainwashing Centre, when her health worsened. She was not told what the doctors found when they examined her, but the authorities called her son to pick her up that afternoon.

When she got home, she couldn't eat due to the severe pain in her arms, neck, and back. She told her family that her injuries were the result of being tortured and force-fed unknown drugs.

Ms. Cui's family took her back to the hospital on November 2nd. She died the next day.

Ms. Cui's Arrest

Local police arrested Ms. Cui and another practitioner from Yushu City, Jilin Province, on September 9th, 2014, and took them to the detention centre that afternoon.

Officers Qi Li (齐力) and Fan Hongkai (范洪凯) took Ms. Cui to the Yushu Brainwashing Centre on September 12th. Li Fenglin (李风林), the head of the Yushu 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), ordered several men to force-feed Ms. Cui unknown drugs. She remained steadfast in her belief, so Li transferred her to the Changchun Brainwashing Centre.

Family Persecuted

Ms. Cui had been arrested 14 times and put in forced labour camps twice since the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999.

Her daughter, Ms. Li Shuhua (李淑花), died in October 2002 after relentless torture in the Yushu Detention Centre. She was only 32 years old.

Ms. Cui's son-in-law, Mr. Yang Zhanjiu (杨占久), was sentenced to seven years because of his belief. He was taken to Shiling Prison, Siping City, in 2004, where he lost the use of his legs as a result of torture.
